Commissioner Cortés-Vázquez: [Speaks in Spanish.]

Hosts: [Speak in Spanish.] Mr. Mayor, what happened because… [Speaks in Spanish.]

Translator: Mr. Mayor, the question is, what is the responsibility of the mayor and the commissioner in regards to these programs involving the senior citizens of New York?

Mayor Adams: What the commissioner has done that's really amazing through older adult cabinets is identifying exactly what our older adults need and using the resources of the city to find those who are in need and actually meet them on the ground and give them the support that is going to assist them during these difficult times in the city.

Commissioner Cortés-Vázquez: [Speaks in Spanish.] Cut through the red tape.

Host: Thank you. A question for the mayor. [Speaks in Spanish.]

Translator: Mr. Mayor, we're going through this situation where there are various protests in the city over what's transpiring in Israel. How is the city protecting its citizens against any type of attack that may occur?

Mayor Adams: A great question. What's important for me– as I indicated yesterday– there has been longstanding conflict in that region, but no matter what the conflicts may be, under no circumstance should someone go into the homes of innocent people, rape women and children, kill them in front of their loved ones, drag them through the street. That is not who we are.

That inhumane action was really impactful on our city. And the New York City Police Department, through Commissioner Caban, he has put in several initiatives to make sure everyday New Yorkers in general are safe and specifically the Jewish community in the city. And we want to thank the Muslim leaders who have stepped up also and denounced the terrible behavior that took place by this terrorist group.

Host: [Speaks in Spanish.]

Commissioner Cortés-Vázquez: [Speaks in Spanish.]

Hosts: [Speaks in Spanish.] Gracias, Lorraine, thank you, Mr. Mayor.

Commissioner Cortés-Vázquez: Adios.

Mayor Adams: De nada.
