Ryan Field: Thank you. Joined now by the Mayor of New York City, Mr. Eric Adams. Always a special day here in the Big Apple, but especially for you being the mayor of our fair city and overseeing this great event here today.
Mayor Eric Adams: No, so true. And I remember on the sideline as a police officer protecting the runners, and now to be here today as the mayor of this city and just think about how life has been a marathon for all of us. But we are focused and consistent and these runners mean a lot to the spirit of this city and this country.
Field: The weather is helping us out today, obviously a great scene. What are you looking forward to most as these runners embark on this 26.2 mile track?
Mayor Adams: Break records. We want to see records that are broken. But as the song states, If you could make it here, you could make it anywhere. If you could run in this marathon and get to the finish line, you could get to the finish line of life. And I think everyone who's watching, they should think about that. That these runners are showing endurance, patience, fortitude, and it’s a resiliency of their American spirit. Only country in the globe where dream is attached to our name, and we're the American Dream. These are the American runners moving towards that dream.
Field: Well said, Sir. Enjoy the race today, Mr. Mayor.
Mayor Adams: Thank you. Take care.
