Joseph A. Menta

Joseph "Joe" A. Menta, Jr. was born in Co-op City to Joseph and Diane Menta, moving to Pelham Parkway in 1980. He has been active in his community since a child, serving as a volunteer at Holy Rosary Church. All of his schooling was in the Bronx, including graduate school at SUNY Maritime, where he became a third mate of motor/steam vessels of unlimited tonnage, earning his Master of Science in Transportation Management.

Joe has a background in emergency preparedness, energy and emergency power systems, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Currently, he is a senior sales executive for Johnson Controls, Inc., working to make buildings in NYC more comfortable, safe, efficient and sustainable through energy conservation measures and preventative maintenance.

A co-founder of the Pelham Parkway Preservation Alliance, whose goal is to preserve the Pelham Parkway environment, especially its trees, Joe became the Vice President of the Allerton Avenue Homeowner's & Tenant's Association in 2003, a position in which he still currently serves. He’s also been, since 2003, an active member of the Jacobi Medical Center Community Advisory Board and, since 2010, a Boy Scouts of America leader with Pack 162, assisting Troop 162 with their many trips and activities. In 2010, Joe also started coaching for the Van Nest Little League.

Joe married his high school sweetheart, Carmela, and together, they have been blessed with three beautiful children.
