Veronica Castro was born, raised and still lives in the Allerton section of Community Board 11.
A graduate of Columbus High School who earned her Bachelor of Arts in business leadership from Ashford University, she currently is a director in the Legal and Compliance Department at a leading financial institution, for which she has worked for over 30 years. Problem solving, collaborating and resolving disputes are her strengths.
A co-founder and the current Secretary of the Allerton International Merchants (AIM) Association, she was first appointed to Community Board 11 in 2016, becoming the Board's first executive officer of Latin descent in 2019. Through AIM, she has assisted in the removal of graffiti from our district, street clean ups of the Allerton corridor, and keeping businesses and residents informed of activities affecting them in addition to informing them of opportunities such as Community Board 11 Day at Yankee Stadium.
