Skilled Trades Checklists: Solar Energy
Project Checklists contain project-specific details as they apply to the scope of work of the project to provide compliance with the NYC Construction Codes and other regulations. This section contains a list of tasks to assist with compliance.
Checklists include:
Pre-Permit Checklist
- Construction Drawings. Make sure Department-approved drawings clearly convey the project scope and the contracted work reflects the approved and full scope of work.
- If the scope is modified after approval, verify if changes need an amendment – refer to AC Article 104.
- Insurance Requirements. Make sure to comply with the insurance requirements for General Liability insurance, Workers Compensation and Disability insurance. If necessary, update the General Liability insurance when required.
- Special Inspections. Make sure to check if the Owner has hired the Special Inspection Agency and their details are submitted – a requirement for obtaining a permit.

On-going Project Work Checklist
- Construction Drawings. Make sure work conforms to approved drawings – see minor variations memo on condensate drains. However, minor variations are allowed and certain changes may require an amendment.
- Scope Modification. Verify if changes need an amendment
- Site Safety. The Contractor must maintain their work site in a safe condition during construction and must minimize the risk of accidents and fire.
- Special Inspections. Make sure to coordinate work schedule with the Special Inspection Agency to ensure these are completed as required by stage of work.
- Department Inspections. Make sure to request or self-certify the required inspections, by stage of completion, and obtain sign-off for the completed work.
- Self-Certification. If self-certifying the required inspections, make sure to submit a Notice of Intent to Self-certify, which may be audited.

Project Completion Close-out Checklist
- Department Inspections. Make sure to request or self-certify the required inspections by stage of completion, and obtain sign-off for the completed work.
- Self-Certification. If self-certifying the required inspections, make sure to submit a Notice of Intent to Self-certify, which may be audited.
- As-Built Submission. Coordinate installation with RDP for submission. RDP to submit PAA as required.
- Final Sign-off. Make sure to complete all Department inspections and obtain final sign-off of the completed work.
