Somia El-Rowmeim, Arabic

Somia El-Rowmeim is a a respected leader within the Arab American community, working tirelessly to promote civic engagement and gender equality. Somia served at the Arab American Association of New York for almost a decade, most recently as the director of the Adult Education and Women Empowerment. She also founded the Union of Arab Women, a member-led organization that provides support and resources to Arab women in New York City. Through her work with the Union, she has played an integral role in organizing voter registration drives, town halls, and rallies in support of various causes. Somia have been recognized with numerous awards and accolades. Recently, she was named one of the Power 100 women diversity in NY for 2022 by City & State Magazine.
