High School Automotive Internship Program

DCAS in partnership with the New York City Department of Education Career Technical Education Automotive High Schools provides opportunities for student to participate in a paid summer internship program that provides valuable hands-on experience maintaining high-profile City vehicles, and the unique opportunity to learn from leading City fleet experts and professionals who service the largest municipal fleet in the United States.

Internship Timeframe

Internships start the beginning of July and run for six weeks and/or a total of 150 hours.

Each summer students are placed with partnering agencies such as the New York City Police Department, The Fire Department of New York, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Sanitation, and DCAS. Interns will gain hands on experience in diagnosing equipment, performing basic maintenance, understanding fleet and claims management, handling automotive shop equipment, and fleet management.

Interns are paid for their work while receiving practical experience that will help pave the way for careers in the automotive industry.
