Through NYCityLearn, the City’s 300,000+ employees will now have better access to training and professional development than ever before.
NEW YORK, NY—Today, the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) announced the launch of NYCityLearn, a cutting-edge new Learning Management System (LMS) designed to enhance and streamline training and professional development opportunities for all City of New York employees. Accessible online—as opposed to the prior training system only available in-network from City worksites—with the launch of the new site, DCAS is connecting the 300,000 strong municipal workforce with training and learning opportunities from home, the office, and the palm of their hands.
"NYCityLearn underscores this administration’s commitment to equipping our public servants with the resources they need to grow professionally and serve New Yorkers at the highest level,” said First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright. “By modernizing how our 300,000+ employees access training, we are not just enhancing their skills—we are investing in a better prepared, more adaptable workforce that will help drive the future of this city.”
“Today, we are proud to announce a significant leap forward in how we support the professional development of our City’s workforce and even further position ourselves as the employer of choice for New Yorkers,” said DCAS Commissioner Louis A. Molina. “NYCityLearn is more than just an intelligent and innovative new tool for training; it’s a gateway to empowering our employees with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive and advance in their careers, and to serve the people of New York City even more effectively. By offering a dynamic, accessible, and comprehensive learning environment, we are fulfilling our commitment to fostering a culture of continuous growth and excellence across all City agencies.”
The newly launched NYCityLearn site empowers city agencies with a dynamic new platform to administer comprehensive training programs and learning opportunities, ensuring the continuous growth and development of the City’s workforce. Easily accessible online, the system has streamlined the process for employees to register for classes, access their training transcripts, and explore a robust catalog of open enrollment trainings and eLearning modules—available anytime, anywhere.
The citywide training portfolio continues to offer a wide range of offerings, including for professional and personal development, technology, cultural awareness and inclusivity, executive development, certification track courses, and NYC-specific offerings. Employees will also have access to new courses on artificial intelligence, such as Introduction to CoPilot: Revolutionizing Team Productivity and Microsoft AI for Business Leaders.
DCAS began the implementation of NYCityLearn in January 2024, working closely with sister agencies to ensure a smooth transition to the new platform. Since then, over 80 training sessions have been conducted, and agency liaisons have received comprehensive training to effectively manage their agency’s training operations. Employees across the city gained access to their new training accounts, marking a significant milestone in the city’s commitment to continuous learning.
“We are dedicated to providing City employees with top-tier tools to serve the greatest city in the world. Through NYCityLearn, we are breaking down barriers to access by providing a centralized platform where employees can easily access a wide range of training and development opportunities. NYCityLearn empowers employees at all levels to enhance their skills, grow in their careers, and continue delivering outstanding public service,” said DCAS Deputy Commissioner for Human Capital, Katrina Porter.
This launch reflects the City of New York’s ongoing commitment to delivering a more dynamic, customized, and transparent learning environment for all City employees. NYCityLearn is a key component of Mayor Adams’ vision for a workforce that is continually growing, equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to serve New Yorkers effectively.
