November 18, 2024 will forever be an important moment in time at DOC as the Department hosted its first-ever Men’s Conference at the NYPD Academy in College Point.
Led by Commissioner Lynelle Maginley-Liddie, the historic conference enabled the men of the Department to participate in a full-day interactive program to support their mental, physical, emotional and social health and more.
“We want the men of DOC to continue to strengthen their bonds, enjoy some camaraderie, foster collaboration regardless of rank, and to come away knowing that we truly value them in our lives,” the Commissioner explained. “The goal of this Men’s Conference is to facilitate partnerships, learn how to combat life’s struggles, and emerge as strong leaders.”
The sessions also aimed to provide information and guidance to assist the men in their professional growth in the Department, which included a Table Talk with Assistant Chief of Security Charlton Lemon. The Chief, a highly-respected and decorated DOC veteran, is the second-highest ranking uniformed member in the Department.
NFL Super Bowl XXVI Champion and Pastor Tim Johnson, who leads the Fatherless No More Initiative on Rikers Island, also provided words of encouragement to The Boldest men as they continue 24/7/365 to help keep New York City safe.
