Laura Bowman brings 16 years of City service into her new role as Associate Commissioner. She has spent the last seven years working with all organizational levels at DOI creating, promoting, and delivering training programs designed to support the Agency’s mission and goals, including spearheading DOI’s first Law Enforcement Academy in 2015.
Before joining the world of training, Laura worked in the field of investigations in varying capacities. She supervised unlicensed contractor and employee disciplinary investigations for the New York City Department of Buildings Internal Audits and Discipline Unit. Laura has experience working in Human Resources, conducting background investigations, running and supervising criminal and administrative cases, working undercover, and project management.
Laura has served in a law enforcement role as a Special Patrolman during her time with DOB and as a Peace Officer for DOI since 2013. She is a certified MPTC General Topics Instructor and has received her Instructor certifications in Physical Fitness, Taser, Procedural Justice and Implicit Bias.
Laura graduated with honors from Pace University with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Business.
