Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh Joins FDNY Foundation to Announce Donations by DoorDash, Uber, and Grubhub to Help Promote Lithium-Ion Battery Safety

Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh will join the FDNY Foundation to announce generous donations by industry partners Grubhub, DoorDash, and Uber on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the FDNY FireZone at 61 West 48th Street.

Their $100,000 donations to the FDNY Foundation will help to promote fire safety outreach and support the public education campaign to prevent lithium-ion battery fires. As of April 24, there have been 66 fires and five deaths caused by these battery fires.

The FDNY and the FDNY Foundation encourage the public to safely use and handle lithium-ion batteries to prevent fires.
