Meet local firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs and learn lifesaving fire safety tips
On Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20, the FDNY will host a citywide Open House program. More than 200 firehouses and EMS Stations will open their doors to the public from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Open House locations and hours for each location are listed on the FDNY's interactive map.
Media are invited to attend Sunday's Open House event at Engine 282/Ladder 148 at 4210 12th Avenue Brooklyn, NY at 12:00 PM. Fire Commissioner Robert S. Tucker will attend. Media must RSVP to FDNYOPI@fdny.nyc.gov.
Members will educate the public about fire and life safety, conduct demonstrations, discuss careers in the FDNY, and offer tours of firehouse apparatus.
FDNY members will give away smoke alarms, fire safety literature, coloring books, and fire helmets for children – generously donated by the FDNY Foundation to raise awareness of fire safety and prevention. Community members can also register for free smoke/CO alarm installations.
Throughout the event, all FDNY units will remain in service to respond to fires and medical emergencies.
