FDNY Dispatchers Play Critical Role in Rescue of Two People Lost in Staten Island Wooded Area

The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) Commissioner Robert S. Tucker, FDNY Fire Alarm Dispatchers, and members of FDNY Engine 165 and Ladder 85 will discuss an unusual rescue on Staten Island on Wednesday, March 19th at 10:00 a.m. on the corner of Forest Hill Road and Richmond Hill Road.

On March 13, the FDNY received reports of two individuals lost in a wooded area and trapped in mud. Fire Alarm Dispatchers were familiar with the area and were able to keep the missing individuals calm while guiding units to the area where the civilians were located. FDNY Fire Alarm Dispatchers were expertly able to guide responding FDNY units over the radio to people who needed their help. The FDNY removed two civilians and two dogs to safety. They did not require medical attention.
