FDNY celebrates Hanukkah with menorah lightings

December 30, 2024

FDNY leaders joined New Yorkers in celebrating the Festival of Lights by participating in menorah lighting ceremonies for Hanukkah.

In a joint celebration with the NYPD, the FDNY hosted a menorah lighting on Thursday, Dec. 26, in front of the quarters of Engine Company 216/Ladder Company 108/Battalion 35 and the NYPD's 90th Precinct station house in Brooklyn. The event brought together Fire Commissioner Robert S. Tucker, Department members, the FDNY's Ner Tamid Society and others from the community.

On Sunday, Dec. 29, First Deputy Commissioner Mark Guerra and Chief of Department John Esposito joined community members for a menorah lighting at Engine Company 282/Ladder Company 148 in Brooklyn.

"Hanukkah is a time of reflection, community and light," Fire Commissioner Tucker said. "Standing together with our members, our partners at the NYPD and the community is a meaningful reminder of our shared commitment to service and unity."

The FDNY wishes all who celebrate a Happy Hanukkah and reminds you to celebrate safely. For holiday safety tips and information, go to FDNYSmart.org.
