In new PSA, the FDNY reminds New Yorkers to store and charge lithium-ion batteries outside where possible

In a new Public Service Announcement (PSA), the FDNY is reminding New Yorkers that the safest place to charge and store lithium-ion batteries is outside, where possible.

Structural fires caused by lithium-ion batteries are up so far in 2025 compared to 2024. For safety tips and other resources related to lithium-ion batteries, go to FDNYSmart.org.
