Illuminated in yellow, white and blue with the signature heartbeat effect, the Empire State Building, in partnership with the FDNY, lit up the New York City skyline Sunday, May 19, 2024, to kick off National EMS Week 2024.
"FDNY EMS are dedicated professionals whose resilience and dedication lights New Yorkers' darkest hours," Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh said. "During EMS Week, we celebrate officers, paramedics and EMTs who work diligently to care for New Yorkers in times of need. I am incredibly proud of all the hard work our members do each day."
This is the 16th consecutive year the Empire State Building has partnered with FDNY to celebrate EMS Week, which runs through May 25. This year's theme is "Behind Every Uniform is a Story." See this year's poster and read some of those stories at JoinFDNY.com/EMSWeek.
