The FDNY welcomed 154 probationary Emergency Medical Technicians at a graduation ceremony on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn.
"Today marks a very momentous occasion for the Fire Department and for all of you, our graduates," Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh said. "You are now officially members of the greatest Fire Department in the world serving the people of the greatest city in the world."
Chief of EMS Operations Michael Fields said: "You are the best, most dedicated first responders that our city has to offer. Together, you will make a difference in the lives of countless individuals."
The graduating class trained for 16 weeks at the EMS Academy and includes 14 members of the FDNY's Youth Alumni Program and 11 military veterans. To date, 181 FDNY Youth members have been hired as cadets, EMTs, paramedics and firefighters.
