On October 18, 2023, the FDNY held a ceremony to honor its members who have become bone marrow donors, including Firefighter Ryan McLean who saved the life of five-year-old Cristiano Frigoli. Frigoli was diagnosed with a rare immunodeficiency disease in 2020. Doctors said the only cure was bone marrow transplant. Through the Be The Match Registry, Frigoli was matched with Firefighter McLean. He received a transplant in 2022 and is doing very well.
