The Empire State Building, in partnership with the FDNY, will be illuminated in yellow, white and blue with their signature heartbeat effect at sunset, today, Monday, May 18th in celebration of National EMS Week 2020.
“For more than a decade, the Empire State Building has honored the men and women of EMS by lighting the world’s most famous building during National EMS Week,” said Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro. “This year, more than ever before, New Yorkers have seen the tremendous bravery and dedication of our members as they have responded to a record number of medical emergencies throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m incredibly proud of our members, and grateful for this well-deserved honor they are receiving once again.”
EMS Week is an annual week-long series of events designed to promote public safety among all New Yorkers, attract potential EMS recruits and celebrate the life-saving efforts of more than 4,400 members of FDNY’s Emergency Medical Service.
This is the twelfth consecutive year that the Empire State Building has partnered with FDNY to celebrate National EMS Week. EMS was previously honored this year on April 24, as part of the Empire State Building’s #HeroesShineBright campaign, a week-long campaign that honored first responders and essential workers.
