The Department will hold a graduation ceremony for 49 Probationary Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the EMS Bureau of Training at Fort Totten in Queens. The ceremony can also be viewed on the Department’s website, www.nyc.gov/FDNY.
FDNY EMTs are trained for 13 weeks at the EMS Academy in all aspects of their job as Emergency Medical Technicians: CPR; patient medical and trauma assessments; oxygen and ventilation skills; management of hypotension and fractures; and spinal immobilization and emergency childbirth; and emergency vehicle operation. This graduating class underwent training with COVID-19 precautions in place; including social distancing, face coverings, and utilizing smaller groups for classroom education and hands-on exercises. The new EMTs will be assigned to units throughout New York City.
