On November 13, 2023, the City of New York began issuing weigh-in-motion violations. The City will operate sensors and cameras on the eastbound side of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (I-278), from the vicinity of Atlantic Avenue to the vicinity of Sands Street in Brooklyn.

Weigh-in-motion violations are issued to the owner of a vehicle exceeding weight limits on a portion of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. The owner of the vehicle is responsible for the violation in either or both of the following cases:
