The City of New York issues weigh-in-motion violations. The City operates sensors and cameras on the eastbound side of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (I-278), from the vicinity of Atlantic Avenue to the vicinity of Sands Street in Brooklyn.
On June 22, 2025, the City expanded enforcement of camera violations for overweight vehicles to the westbound side of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway from the vicinity of Sands Street to the vicinity of Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn.

Weigh-in-motion violations are issued to the owner of a vehicle exceeding weight limits on a portion of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. The owner of the vehicle is responsible for the violation in either or both of the following cases:
