Valedictorian Officer Jordan
“Training in the Academy was amazing and our instructors really did a great job in setting the standards high. ADW Mack instilled in us that we need to take all of this seriously by arriving on time, working hard every day and keeping our integrity,” said Officer Jordan. “I loved every aspect of the Academy and I learned so much during this training about being a law enforcement professional.”
Jordan, who is the second Correction Officer in her family, also received the Mayor’s Award during our graduation ceremony on March 21.
“Throughout the training, my classmates were always cheering me on and I think all of that support plus staying focused on performing well on the exams propelled me to becoming Valedictorian,” she added. “I’m looking forward to working in the jails and applying what we have learned to real-life situations to help the Department.”
Salutatorian Officer Elhanafi
“During the Academy, we helped one another study and that motivated me to work even harder to prepare for the exams. I’m very proud that we worked so hard together to do well in this training and get ready to help our city as Correction Officers,” said Officer Elhanafi. “The training was also intense, it was tough, but it was rewarding. The instructors motivated us to keep going and keep working hard. They are supportive and influential. A special thank you goes to ADW Mack because she is amazing and inspiring.”
Elhanafi, who is the first Correction Officer in her family, also received the Commissioner’s Award during our graduation ceremony on March 21.
“I come from a law enforcement family and I’m proud to start my own path by working for The Boldest,” she added. “I’m looking forward to being compassionate, fair, firm and consistent as an Officer. I’m going to treat people with respect and do what I can to help others.”
Highest Firearms Proficiency Officer Wang
“Training at the Academy was excellent. The instructors are very knowledgeable and thorough. ADW Mack and Instructor Benjamin taught us so much and provided us with motivation and structure,” said Officer Wang.
Wang, who is the first Correction Officer in his family, also received our Division of Training and Development's Deputy Commissioner’s Award during our graduation ceremony on March 21.
“I learned about this job after seeing an advertisement while taking the subway one day and I decided to give it a shot because this is important work in law enforcement,” he added. “Earning ‘Top Shooter’ has also made me very proud of my decision to choose this career. I’ve learned a lot of new skills and knowledge in the Academy and I’m looking forward to using all of that to help serve our city.”
