New York City Law Department Names Karen Griffin as Chief of New Ethics & Compliance Division

New York City Corporation Counsel Sylvia O. Hinds-Radix today announced the appointment of Karen Griffin as Chief of the Law Department’s Ethics & Compliance Division. The newly-created Division will enhance the office’s existing ethics counseling and training of Law Department employees and expand its ability to provide similar services to all City agencies as well as elected officials. The Division will also be responsible for counseling on a wide array of federal, state, and local compliance matters to mitigate risk to City operations and finances.

As a longstanding member of the Law Department, Griffin brings more than ten years of ethics experience to the position, most recently through her role as the Law Department’s Chief Ethics Officer. She began her career at the Law Department as an attorney in the Tax & Bankruptcy Division in 1995, and later worked in the Appeals Division. Griffin is a graduate of Albany Law School and holds an LLM in taxation from New York University School of Law.
