Isolina De La Cruz serves as the Executive Deputy Director of the Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit (PEU). Isolina joined PEU in 2015 on the front lines as an outreach specialist, where she helped shape some of the core programmatic functions of the unit. Since then, she has held several positions in the organization, including Project Lead, Senior Outreach Director, and now, Executive Deputy Director. She has played a pivotal role in helping build programs and leading large-scale city-wide projects to ensure New Yorkers can access the benefits and resources they deserve.
Before joining PEU, Isolina worked for over eight years in the non-profit sector to empower survivors of gender-based violence, providing counseling and economic empowerment services and resources to survivors. Isolina has a dedicated background in activism and humanitarian causes, including providing access to health care and humanitarian aid to residents in border towns of the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Isolina is a graduate of John Jay College.
In her life outside of City Government, Isolina is a passionate casino dancer– a Cuban style of dance– and a running enthusiast, having completed two marathons.
