The Essential Plan is expanding to cover even more New Yorkers
New York residents with incomes of up to 250% of the Federal Poverty Line, including DACA recipients, may now qualify for the Essential Plan.
The Essential Plan is an affordable health plan. It is for New Yorkers who qualify. It covers doctor’s visits, hospital care, screenings, prescription medicine, dental and vision benefits, and more.
The Essential Plan now includes residents with incomes up to 250 percent of the Federal Poverty Line, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) recipients. Learn more about the expansion.
About the Essential Plan
- The monthly premium is $0 (free), so you don’t have monthly payments.
- It has no deductible, so it starts covering your health care right away.
- You get free preventive care like regular doctor visits and screenings. Preventive care can help keep you healthy. Learn more about the benefits of health insurance.
- There is low cost-sharing for services and prescriptions.
- There is no cost-sharing for dental or vision services.
Qualifying for the Essential Plan
You could qualify for the Essential Plan if you:
- Are a New York State resident
- Are a United States citizen, lawfully present applicant, or recipient of DACA
- Are 19-64 years old
- Are not eligible for employer and other coverage
- Have a lower-income and don’t qualify for Medicaid or Child Health Plus: learn about income eligibility here.
