NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment Announces Fall 2024 "Made in NY" Talks

Signature Series with Focus on Job Opportunities for New Yorkers Returns; Full Schedule Available at https://www.centerforcommunication.org/calendar


NEW YORK - The NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) is pleased to announce the Fall 2024 schedule for the "Made in NY" Talks series. Presented in partnership with the Center for Communication, the series brings together industry leaders to share insights, information and news with New Yorkers looking to work in the media and entertainment industries. The talks are in-person, free and open to the public.

“We are thrilled to once again partner with the Center for Communication on the “Made in NY” Talks series which, this Fall, provides resources and information on how to begin a career in NYC’s world-famous entertainment industry,” said Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, Pat Swinney Kaufman. “We encourage all New Yorkers to come explore opportunities in film, television, virtual, documentary, streaming and political media production.”

The Future of Storytelling: Virtual Production
Monday, October 7, 6:30 to 8:00 PM
SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues)
On-set virtual production has been a game-changer for the business of storytelling, from entertainment and sports to news and documentaries. The groundbreaking use of LED volumes, real-time CGI, and other virtual technologies not only has enabled substantial cost savings, flexibility, and efficiencies in production, it also has inspired tremendous leaps in creativity and imagination. Hear from leaders and creators who produce for film, television, video games, advertising, and beyond about the different skills they need on a virtual production set.

The political media ecosystem is littered with disinformation. Journalists have to navigate a digital minefield, parsing new technologies like artificial intelligence, in order to cover candidates and engage the public. Media thought leaders share lessons learned from elections past and present, and offer suggestions for how news consumers can distinguish fact from fiction and stay informed.
