NeON Arts Host Black Panther Screening

Today, MovieWorld Douglaston in Queens will host a free screening of the newly-released, critically-acclaimed ”Black Panther” movie for hundreds of children, young adults, and family members from across the city. Organized by the City’s Department of Homeless Services in collaboration with Carnegie Hall, the NYC Department of Probation, not-for-profit service provider partners, and local theater owner Russell Levinson, the screening of “Black Panther” highlights and honors Black History Month and will give 250 children current residing in shelters as well as 250 young adults currently participating in NeON Arts, in partnership with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, the opportunity to see this groundbreaking film.

Donated snacks will be distributed, and theater staffs are volunteering their time for the event. DHS and DOP are providing transportation and coordinating with not-for-profit partners to ensure participation. This historic and record-shattering film, which tells the story of life and leadership in Wakanda, a fictional East African nation with the most advanced technology in the world, is being offered in celebration of Black History Month.
