November 26, 2024

Following Track Record of Success, Event Will Bring Free Resources and Confidential Support to Bronx Families Coping with Long-term Missing Persons on Friday, December 6.

NEW YORK – The Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) will host NYC Missing Persons Day in the Bronx for the first time on Friday, December 6. This free event offers caring resources and confidential support for the families and friends of long-term missing persons (missing for 60 or more days) to help find and identify their missing loved ones.

NYC Missing Persons Day makes the advanced capabilities and dedication of OCME professionals available to all communities touched by the issue of missing persons, where thousands of cases are reported across the country. Attendees may voluntarily share information, such as photos, personal histories, and DNA reference samples, where applicable, to help make identifications.

Launched in 2014, NYC Missing Persons Day is credited with dozens of identifications of missing persons in the New York metropolitan region. Hundreds of families have attended and received assistance.

NYC Missing Persons Day in the Bronx is open to all families and friends of long-term missing persons. Attendees are strongly encouraged to make appointments by calling (212) 323-1201. Providing information is voluntary and used only for the purpose of making identifications. Virtual assistance is available for those who cannot attend in person. Language interpretation services are available.

Note: Media previews will be offered in advance of the event on Tuesday, December 3. Please email ocmepublicaffairs@ocme.nyc.gov or call (212) 447-2041 to arrange. Media access will be limited on Friday, December 6, in the interest of attendee privacy.
