Community Board 9 To Welcome Borough President Katz at Next Meeting
Queens Borough President Melinda Katz will attend and speak at Community Board 9's next meeting on the evening of June 10.
Borough President Katz is expected to address some of the issues, projects, and concerns in the neighborhoods represented by CB9 -- Woodhaven, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill, and Kew Gardens. Recent topics of importance to the community include basement apartments, the education system, and traffic and transportation needs. The Borough President has also expressed excitement at CB9's vision for parklands, ranging from those within CB9's borders to the Board's interest in restoring the New York State Pavilion at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
"We are extremely pleased to have Borough President Katz as our guest. This is an excellent opportunity for the members of CB9 to learn about the Borough President's plans for Queens, and for us to ask questions about the subjects that matter to our community," said CB9 Chairman Ralph Gonzalez. "Our dialogue with the Borough President will help ensure that our neighborhoods remain a thriving part of 'the world's borough.'"
Borough President Katz is thoroughly familiar with the work of community boards and with the neighborhoods of CB9. She served as Director of Community Boards from 1999 to 2002, under then-Borough President Claire Shulman. She has also previously represented Kew Gardens and Richmond Hill in the City Council.
Borough President Katz is expected to take the floor around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10. The meeting will occur at Majestic Marquise, 88-03 101 Avenue in Ozone Park.
