Eliana Palmay is an Employment Services Manager 3 with the New York State Department of Labor at the Brooklyn Workforce 1 Career Centers. The Brooklyn Career Center is the largest and busiest Career Center in New York State. Ms. Palmay and staff assist both job seekers and business throughout the borough. Job seekers are provided with a variety of employment and training services, including assessment, resume assistance, job referral and training, to assist them in finding employment. Businesses benefit from direct recruitments, Career Fairs (virtual and in person) and job seeker referrals to help them find the employees they need to be successful. Ms. Palmay has 35 staff members to provide employment and training services to 1,000 job seekers each week. Ms. Palmay also oversees the Work for Success Initiative. Work for Success formally assists incarcerated individuals find employment in a variety of sectors.
Ms. Palmay began her career with NYSDOL over 20 years ago. In October of 2014, Ms. Palmay was promoted to Employment Services Manager 2 at the Upper Manhattan Career Center in Harlem and remained as such until her promotion to Employment Services Manager 3 in May of 2018 at the Brooklyn Workforce 1 Career Center. Ms. Palmay’s most notable accomplishment occurred in 2014 as she led staff through the State’s pilot Unemployment Strikeforce Initiative in Bronx County, an initiative found to be very successful and implemented in other regions of the State.
