DDC designs and builds projects throughout the five boroughs.
Our Infrastructure Division manages projects related to sewers, water mains, roadways, plazas and more. Our Public Buildings Division manages the construction or renovation of publicly owned buildings such as libraries and fire houses. DDC’s Office of Community Outreach and Notification (OCON) is tasked with keeping residents and businesses up to date about current and upcoming DDC projects.
Our projects put the community first.
Every DDC project, from libraries, to firehouses, to sewer work, is meant to bolster the surrounding neighborhood.
During the early stages of a project, before DDC has begun work, our partner agencies collaborate with communities to incorporate their needs and goals into the project scope. During design, DDC brings projects to their local Community Boards to share information and provide opportunities for input.
While a project is in the construction phase, we make every effort to ensure that disruptions are kept at a minimum and people in the community can go about their day. That includes making accommodations for individuals with disabilities, working around school schedules, and maintaining open communication with business owners.
Community Construction Liaisons are in your neighborhood.
One of the primary ways we communicate about our work is through Community Construction Liaisons (CCLs). Our CCLs are assigned to specific projects and work alongside resident engineers and project managers to inform the surrounding community. You might see our CCLs posting community advisories at their assigned site or speaking with residents and business owners in the nearby area.
You can learn more about our work..
We produce Outreach Materials that detail project types we frequently work on, guidance for people living or working near a construction site, and more. We also present on specific projects to community boards and other organizations, and you can find information on those presentations listed under Community Presentations.
