This section provides information to help you prepare for the computer‐based test (CBT), including:

Using the CBT System

Important Considerations

Please note the following important points when taking the Firefighter CBT:

• The test is timed. Each portion of the test is timed. The time limits are set to allow a reasonable amount time to review instructions, study materials, watch videos and answer questions. The total maximum examination period is 4 hours.
• Work at your own pace. You may finish in less than 4 hours. If you finish a portion of the test early, you can end it and move to the next portion. Note that you will not be allowed to return to an earlier portion of the test.
• Guessing. Do not randomly guess on the test. Some of the questions are scored such that you will lose points for a wrong answer.
