Communications and Policy
The Communications and Policy Division supports DDC’s Capital Program by proactively and collaboratively communicating DDC’s mandate, community impacts and priorities to NYC community leaders, media, and the public.
The Communications and Policy Division is comprised of the Office of Community Outreach and Notification (OCON) and the Public Information and Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) office. These units actively participate in community board and advisory group meetings throughout the lifecycle of projects. They lead engagement with elected officials, coordinate ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings, and participate in events to expand opportunities on DDC projects, such as Meet the Teams events and Workforce Career Fairs.
DDC’s work in the five boroughs is supported by the Community Construction Liaison (CCL) program, which places on-the-ground liaisons within communities to actively communicate project updates to residents and business owners. CCLs go door-to-door to update community members about the impacts of construction and work to mitigate those impacts in coordination with the construction team and contractor.
DDC recognizes that the work we perform is essential for upgrading the City’s infrastructure and public buildings, we must be good neighbors and respect the communities wherever we are working.
