Pilot Timeline

As of August 14, 2023 trash collection on the 12 blocks in the pilot area increased to six days a week — Monday through Saturday.

As of September 11, 2023, we installed shared bins in the pilot area (except 142nd street).

  • Shared bins (plastic with lids and wheels) are for residential trash only, not recycling.
  • Bins are monitored and cleaned on a regular basis.

NOTE: There is no change to your recycling service.

Recycling is still collected on Fridays. Set out recycling in front of your building on Thursdays after 8:00 PM if using bags, or 6:00 PM if using your own individual bin with a secure lid.

How to Use the Containers

  • Bag your trash and bring to the bins daily as needed.
  • Open the lid and place your bagged trash into the container — make sure the lid closes!

Large Items

Have something bulky that won’t fit in the bin? That’s okay! Leave it in front of your building and we will pick it up from there.
