Summer Youth Employment Program Webinar – April 11 |
• The Summer Youth Employment Program, also known as SYEP, is the nation’s largest youth employment program, connecting NYC youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experience each summer.

‘Made in NY’ Talks Spring 2023 Series – April 13, April 20, April 24 |
• Presented in partnership with the Center for Communication, the "Made in NY" Talks series brings together industry leaders to share insights, information and news with New Yorkers looking to work in the media and entertainment industries. The talks are in-person, free and open to the public.
• April talks include “The George Polk Awards Seminar: When Covering War Gets Personal”, “Multicultural Marketing: Meaningful Engagement” and “Making Social Content: A Creators Conversation.”

Responsible Hospitality Institute (RHI) Sociable City Summit – April 21-23 |
• The 2023 Sociable City Summit will celebrate RHI's 40th Anniversary and convene global leaders on nighttime management strategies. Attendees can hear what it takes to be a Night Manager and how they have made their cities’ nightlife sectors safer, more vibrant, and better managed.
• The Summit is also a gathering for frontline public safety and police representatives seeking solutions on nighttime disorder, violence, and closing-time crowds.

2023 NY Music Month Warm-Up Series – April 26: |
• MOME is proud to present the NY Music Month Warm-Up Series this spring – a precursor to our signature month-long initiative in June – where industry leaders will offer insider perspectives on trends and career advice in the music business.
• NY Music Month, to be announced in May, will once again include over 30 in-person and digital events celebrating the music industry and the annual flagship conference produced by the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) and NYU Steinhardt Music Business Program.

ReelAbilities Film Festival New York – April 27 - May 3: |
• The 15th Annual ReelAbilities Film Festival returns to venues throughout New York and online this spring.
• This year’s festival features the first-ever Industry Summit in partnership with MOME. The summit will focus on accessibility and inclusion in all aspects of the film and performing arts industries, and highlight the latest developments in best practices.

TeatroFest NYC 2023 – Now Through April 30: |
• Presented by the Alliance of Teatros Latinos NY, TeatroFest NYC 2023 is a citywide festival of live drama, dance, music and conversations with Latin artists, taking place this spring.
• The festival features 20 productions and 210 performances in multiple Latin theater venues, including world premiere productions of new works as well as revivals from individual theaters and other cultural offerings from NYC’s Latin community of artists and performers.

African Film Festival – May 10 - June 1: |
• The African Film Festival, an organization dedicated to advancing an enhanced understanding of African culture through the moving image, presents the annual New York African Film Festival, which honors African cinema and gives a voice to the artists, activists, and filmmakers from Africa and the diaspora.

Brooklyn Savvy – SUNDAYS NOW THROUGH JULY 23: |
• Brooklyn Savvy celebrates its 19th Season on NYC Life, the flagship channel of NYC Media, Sundays at 10:00am.
• Hosted and created by Toni Williams, the show aims to inspire, inform, entertain and engage women through sharing commonalities and give voice to our different perspectives and life experiences.

• Commissioner del Castillo attended the 43rd Annual New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) MUSE Awards luncheon, where she presented the “Made in NY” award to Danielle Brooks, in recognition of her career achievements on stage and screen and her ongoing efforts to portray strong characters, promote body positivity, and support women’s creative voices in NYC through the “Black Women on Broadway” organization which she co-founded.
• Established in 2006, the “Made in NY” Award celebrates excellence in New York City's creative community and recognizes the achievements of individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the City's media and entertainment industries. |

Game Developers Conference (GDC) |
• For the first time ever, MOME joined NYS Empire State Development and NYC Economic Development Corporation to represent New York State at GDC, the world’s largest professional game industry event in San Francisco.
• MOME’s First Deputy Commissioner for Creative Sector Programs Pat Kaufman and Associate Commissioner of Workforce Development and Education Alia Jones-Harvey were on hand to present a series of panels, spotlight the city’s diverse indie game community through our “Made in NY” arcade and announce the launch of the “Made in NY” Marketing Credit Program for Digital Games, which provides free advertising opportunities for digital games made in NYC – the #1 media market in the country.

‘Made in NY’ Production Assistant Training Program: 71st Cohort Graduation |
• Deputy Commissioner for the Film Office at MOME Kwame Amoaku delivered remarks at the graduation of 18 participants.
• For 17 years, this signature NYC workforce development program in partnership with Brooklyn Workforce Innovations, has trained more than 1,100 New Yorkers, and counting, in production jobs for companies including Disney, HBO, Showtime and CBS.

• Commissioner del Castillo kicked off the CineGear NY Expo at Industry City, celebrating the expo’s return to NYC since 2014.
• CineGear Expo offers artists and technicians the opportunity to discover state-of-the-art technology and techniques and has grown to become the premier event for the technology, entertainment, and media industry.

Unlock Her Potential Symposium |
• MOME’s Senior Executive Director, Policy + Research, Shira Gans was on hand at the Unlock Her Potential Symposium which provides women of color with mentorship and tools to overcome barriers in the media and entertainment industries.

• Office of Nightlife’s Founding Director Ariel Palitz delivered opening remarks at the Elevating Hip Hop Health panel, part of the Hip Hop: Conscious, Unconscious exhibition at Fotografiska.
• The event featured insights from rapper Doug E. Fresh also known as the “Original Human Beatbox” (and Founding Honorary Board Member of Hip-Hop Public Health), Erfan Karim (Executive Director of Express Care at NYC Health and Hospitals), and Jennifer Leff (LCSW, Managing Director, Human Services at MusiCares) and provided a platform to discuss next steps in the Office of Nightlife’s Elevate Mental Health program.
