‘Made in NY’ Talks Series – Spring 2024: |
• MOME, in partnership with the Center for Communications, is currently presenting the Spring 2024 installment of the ‘Made in NY’ Talks Series, which brings together industry leaders to share insights, information and news with New Yorkers looking to work in the media and entertainment industries.
• The Talks are in-person, free and open to the public at SVA Theatre (333 W. 23rd street), and include:
○ Launch Your Career in Media + Tech - Monday, April 15, 6:30 to 8:00 PM ET, Starr Foundation Hall, The New School, 63 Fifth Avenue (between 13th and 14th Streets)
○ Representations Matters: Explore Careers in Talent Management & Development - Wednesday, May 1, 6:30 to 8:00 PM ET, NYU Production Lab, 16 Washington Place
○ Journalism in an Age of Disinformation, Digital Media and AI, Featuring George Polk Award-winning journalists, in celebration of the awards’ 75th anniversary - Friday, April 12, Panel 4:00 to 5:15 PM ET, Times Center, 242 West 41st Street (between 7th and 8th Avenues)

Queens World Film Festival – April 16-28: |
• The 13th annual Queens World Film Festival is set to screen 152 films from 19 nations at the Museum of the Moving Image and Kaufman Astoria Studios.
• This year’s roster includes 67 films from NYC filmmakers, and the films are grouped together around shared themes allowing potential audiences to find blocs of films that resonate with them, such at the Opening Night Bloc, Take This: 7 Films That Won’t Back Down.

TeatroFest NYC 2024 – Now Through April 30: |
• Presented by the Alliance of Teatros Latinos NY, TeatroFest NYC 2024 promises an exhilarating citywide celebration of Latino drama, dance, and music featuring 20 captivating productions and over 100 performances across nine esteemed Latino theater venues.
• The festival showcases a diverse array of live performances and conversations with Latino artists, and audiences can anticipate both world premiere productions of new works and celebrated revivals, offering a dynamic exploration of NYC's vibrant Latino community of artists and performers.

PEN World Voices Festival – May 8-11: |
• The 20th edition of the acclaimed international literary festival returns to Greenwich Village, featuring over 100 writers, 35 events and 20 countries to engage in discussions, performances, and all things books!
• On May 10, audiences can hear a reading from PEN America’s DREAMing Out Loud fellows, participants of the tuition-free writing workshops for emerging migrant writers in the U.S. founded by the award-winning Mexican novelist Álvaro Enrigue in 2016.
• Also on May 10 will be a reading from PEN America’s DREAMing on Stage fellows, a group of writers from different corners of the world, who have gathered to write epic plays about everything they know and everything they believe in.

Harlem International Film Festival – May 16-25: |
• Celebrating its 19th anniversary, the festival is known for showcasing feature films, documentaries, shorts, animation, youth projects, experimental, VR, music video, and episodic work from around the world plus integrating the best that Harlem has to offer – incredible restaurants and shops, world-class music venues and nightlife, prestigious universities and cultural institutions, and a long history of excellence in the arts.
• For nearly two decades, the Festival has shown over 1,300 films, providing hundreds with their New York premiere and giving them a springboard to further success, and bestowed over 400 awards including the prestigious annual Mira Nair Award for Rising Female Filmmaker and awards to Harlem’s own Emmy award-winning Keith David and Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon.

NYC Life to Air 20th Season of Brooklyn Savvy – May 19: |
• The series Brooklyn Savvy will celebrate its 20th season on NYC Life, the lifestyle channel of the City’s Broadcast network, NYC Media.
• Hosted by the dynamic Toni Williams, each episode of the new season will include a robust panel of Brooklyn Savvy panelists and thought leaders engaging in conversations about topical social justice issues. From inspiring stories to challenging perspectives, the show will delve deep into the issues that matter most to NYC communities.

Tribeca Festival 2024 – June 5-16: |
• The annual festival celebrates the power of storytelling in all forms (film, TV, music, audio storytelling, games, and immersive), featuring premium premieres with the world’s biggest stars alongside the next generation of innovative creators, all on the world’s biggest stages.
• This year Tribeca will celebrate its co-founder Robert De Niro’s 80th birthday with De Niro Con, with fan experiences, set recreations, costume exhibits, behind-the-scenes chats, screenings, and reunions taking place at the Tribeca Festival Hub at Spring Studios June 13-16.

“Made in NY” Award Presented to Alex Borstein: |
• MOME Commissioner Kaufman attended the New York Women in Film and Television Muse Awards, where she presented comedian, actress and producer Alex Borstein with the “Made in NY” award.
• The Emmy-award winning actress is best known for her work on the critically-acclaimed and NYC-filmed Amazon Prime Video series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel as well as the animated sitcom Family Guy.
• Established in 2006, the "Made in NY" Award recognizes the achievements of people and organizations that have made significant contributions to New York City's entertainment and digital media industries over the course of their careers. For more information, please visit the MOME website here. |

“Made in NY” Post-Production Training Program Graduation: |
• MOME was on hand at Motion Picture Enterprises during the graduation of the 18th cohort of the “Made in NY” Post-Production Training Program.
• Former graduates of the program have gone on to use their pro skills in editing/post production in NYC’s robust film and tv production industries which together generate $82 billion in economic activity and support 185,000 jobs.

ReelAbilities Film Festival: |
• MOME Commissioner Kaufman attended the opening night of the 16th Annual ReelAbilities Film Festival, which featured the NYC premiere of Tony Goldwin's star-studded EZRA, and the presentation of the Spotlight Award to Whoopi Goldberg.

Inside Broadway Event at Six the Musical: |
• MOME, alongside Founder, President and CEO of Inside Broadway, Michael Presser attended a special “Creating the Magic” program presentation of Six the Musical to 1,000 NYC public school students.
• The free education program has provided 3 million students from across all five boroughs with behind the scenes access to Broadway productions for over 40 years.

• MOME and the Department of Transportation helped to celebrate the naming of “Chavkin Way” on 48th Street and Broadway in honor of the Tony-award winning theater director Rachel Chavkin of Hadestown and the newly-opened Lempicka the Musical. |

MOME Tours NYC Productions: |
• MOME team members stopped by the sets of Elsbeth and Saturday Night Live, to talk with the production teams about the successes and challenges of filming in NYC, and how MOME can further help diversify and amplify workforce within the industry.
• Additionally, MOME team members attended a screening of the new Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire movie which was partially filmed in NYC. |
