UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES & EVENTS
NewFest (New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival) – April 3-7:
•    Curated and presented in partnership with NewFest, A New York LGBTQ+ film and media organization, “Queering the Canon: So Obsessed,” is a compelling collection of retrospective LGBTQ+ films streaming in-person at BAM and nationwide, April 3-7.
•    This presentation will feature new restorations, 35mm, guest introductions, and in-person Q&As with legacy queer filmmakers including Cheryl Dunye and Lisa Cholodenko.

ReelAbilities Industry Summit – April 7-8:
•    The ReelAbilities Industry Summit is back for its 4th year, taking place in NYC during the ReelAbilities Film Festival, a showcase of accessible and inclusive international cinema.
•    The summit brings together industry leaders, creatives, and presenters to explore disability inclusion in film and performing arts. With a focus on progressive best practices, the event dives beyond the basics to provide actionable resources and open pathways for deeper accessibility and meaningful inclusion in the industry.

●	The ReelAbilities Industry Summit is back for its 4th year, taking place in NYC during the ReelAbilities Film Festival, a  showcase of accessible and inclusive international cinema.
“Made in NY” Talks Series Spring 2025 – April:
•    Presented in partnership with the Center for Communication, the “Made in NY” Talks series brings together industry leaders to share insights, information and news with New Yorkers looking to work in the media and entertainment industries. The talks are in-person, free and open to the public. April events at the SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd street, include:
    ○ The New Independents: Journalism Innovators + Entrepreneurs - Thursday, April 10, 6:30-8PM
    ○ How to Make it in TV in NYC - Monday April 28, 6:30-8PM

Premiere of NYC Media TV Series, Inside Power Station @BerkleeNYC Season 3 – April 11, 9pm:
•    NYC Media, the official broadcast network for the City of New York, is proud to present the third season of Inside Power Station @BerkleeNYC, a 12-episode series featuring interviews and performances from New York City's legendary Power Station recording studio, hosted by Arun Pandian.
•    The series will premiere on NYC Life (WNYE-TV/Channel 25), the City’s Emmy Award-winning lifestyle channel, April 11th at 9pm, featuring interviews with legendary Video Music Box creator, Ralph McDaniels in the first episode.

NYC Public School Film Festival – April 29:
•    For the first time, the NYC Public School Film Festival, now in its 7th year, will kick off with an event at the Museum of the Moving Image, with free admission to all New Yorkers, NYC Public School students and their families.
•    The free event will include student screenings, career and educational expo with film & TV production companies, panels with information on how to apply for specialized arts high schools & colleges, and access to all museum exhibits.

PEN America World Voices Festival – April 30-May 3:
•    Join PEN America for a 4-day celebration of books, ideas and free expression during the 20th annual World Voices Festival, its largest gathering to date of literary stars, visionaries, and great thinkers from around the globe.
•    Centralized in Greenwich Village, the Festival will feature over 80 authors from over 30 countries across 35 events, including free events for New Yorkers of all ages.

A LOOK BACK
New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) Muse Awards:
•    Commissioner Kaufman and members of MOME were on hand at the NYWIFT Muse Awards on March 25th to present the “Made in NY” award to veteran producer Celia Costas.
•    Celia Costas is the first of five “Made in NY” award honorees to be recognized in 2025, with four more awards to be presented at the “Made in NY” Awards ceremony on June 16 at Gracie Mansion. The event is being reinstated now to celebrate individuals and/or groups in NYC's film & TV industry. The additional four honorees will be announced closer to the show date.

Set Visits - The Tamron Hall Show:
•    The MOME team visited with the cast and crew during a taping of the Emmy-award winning “Made in NY” production, The Tamron Hall Show.
•    Showrunner & Executive Producer Quiana Burns and Executive in Charge of Production Aaron Sievers discussed future partnerships with the City of NY as the show preps for their 1,000th episode, all part of MOME’s efforts to support its world-renowned film & TV production industry.

Kings... Come Home North American Premiere:
•   MOME was on hand for a special performance of Kings… Come Home at the Apollo Stages at the Victoria Theatre on March 12, with writer and producer, Ira Kipp.
•   The event, in partnership with the National Black Theatre, welcomed NYC Public School students, Roundabout Theatre Workforce Program fellows and supporters of live theatre to a discounted presentation of the show and an artist talkback, all part of MOME’s mission to support live theatre and make it accessible to all New Yorkers.
