Music’s Biggest Night was a Big Night for NYC! MOME Congratulates the NYC Winners and Nominees of the 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards 
•  Highlights include Bronx-born Samara Joy, who took home GRAMMY awards for Best New Artist and Best Jazz Vocal Album, and the New York Youth Symphony, who made history as the first youth orchestra to ever win a GRAMMY, in the category of Best Orchestral Performance.
•  NYC was well represented throughout the night, as Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B and Billy Crystal all took the stage as presenters, while Mary J. Blige performed her nominated song “Good Morning, Gorgeous” and Jay-Z joined an ensemble group to perform the nominated song “God Did.” During the GRAMMY Premiere Ceremony, Brooklyn’s Arooj Aftab performed, as well as the night’s big winner, Samara Joy.

•  At the GRAMMY Awards NY Nominee Celebration, Mayor Eric Adams and MOME Commissioner Anne del Castillo honored the 196 NYC Nominees that help make NYC a global capital.

NYC Public School Film Festival: Applications Open – NOW through March 7
•  The NYC Public School Film Festival, which honors the diversity of student voices, is presented by MOME and the NYC Department of Education (DOE), and is open to all middle and high school students.
•  The 5th annual festival will take place in Spring of 2023.

NYC Media Celebrates Black History Month – Beginning February 6
•  NYC Life, the flagship channel of the city’s broadcast network NYC Media, will feature a month-long celebration of Black History, every Monday and Tuesday night in February.

NYC Off-Broadway Week – February 13-March 5
•  MOME is proud to partner with NYC & Company to support Off-Broadway week, offering NYC residents and tourists alike 2-for-1 tickets to 23 different Off-Broadway productions.

11th Winter Film Awards International Film Festival – February 16-25
•  Featuring work by filmmakers hailing from 21 different countries and a lineup of films where half are created by women and half are by or about people of color, the Winter Film Awards International Film Festival serves to amplify the diversity of voices in independent film.

Narcan Behind Every Bar: Overdose Prevention and Nalaxone Training – February 21, 12-1pm
•  The Office of Nightlife’s NITE SCHOOL continues its series of monthly classes to educate the nightlife industry on safety and harm reduction prevention and response training.

Literary Activism Summit – February 25, 12-4pm 
•  The Literary Activism Summit, presented by the Literary Action Coalition in partnership with MOME and PEN America, is a convening of writers, activists, readers, and community leaders who will come together to uplift and celebrate the intersection of literature and activism. The event will also host a keynote conversation with activist and writer Iris Morales, of The Young Lords.

New York International Children’s Film Festival – March 3-19 
•  The 26th edition of the NYICFF will feature new films from around the world for ages 3-18 at venues throughout NYC and Sag Harbor.
•  Since 1997, NYICFF has been at the forefront of a movement to redefine "film for kids," screening hundreds of short and feature films from over 30 countries annually.

‘Made in NY’ Production Assistant Training Program: 70th Cohort Graduation 
•  Deputy Commissioner for the Film Office at MOME Kwame Amoaku delivered remarks at the graduation of 18 participants.
•  For 17 years, this signature NYC workforce development program, in partnership with Brooklyn Workforce Innovations, has trained more than 1,000 New Yorkers, and counting, in production jobs for companies including Disney, HBO, Showtime and CBS.

Gaming Pathways Program at City College 
•  The 10-week Gaming Pathways Program at City College run by Urban Arts and the Harlem Gallery of Science wrapped up the first semester of game development training for high school students at A. Phillip Randolph High School, Thurgood Marshall Academy and Facing History High School.

New York Game Awards 
•  MOME Commissioner Anne del Castillo attended and addressed the audience of the 12th annual show, shining a light on NYC’s role as a global digital games hub, presented by the NY Videogame Critics Circle.
•  The event celebrated several NY based digital game production companies, including Holy Wow and Half Mermaid, and honored Bronx teacher Ryan O’Callaghan with the Teacher of the Year Award.

JanArtsNYC APAP Conference
•  MOME Commissioner Anne del Castillo was on hand for the opening night of APAP|NYC+, the Association of Performing Arts Professionals Conference, the world's premier gathering of the performing arts presenting, booking, and touring industry.
•  During her remarks, del Castillo highlighted JanArtsNYC, the annual collection of world-class public performances and innovative industry gatherings which took place throughout the month of January at various NYC venues.
