NYC Media Network Offering New Spanish and English Language Content – NOW: |
• NYC Media, the official broadcast network and production group for the City of New York and part of MOME, proudly announced a partnership with international news organization Deutsche Welle (DW) to provide New Yorkers with 44 new television programs in both English and Spanish on the NYC World Channel (Channel 73 and other cable carriers).
• A total of 22 new English language programs and 22 new Spanish language programs have been added weekly to NYC World’s programming, featuring a combination of straight news analysis, features, specials and original information programs from around the world.

6th NYC Public School Film Festival Submission Period Open – NOW Through March 25: |
• MOME and New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) have announced that the application period is now open for the 6th Annual New York City Public School Film Festival, celebrating the talent and diversity of student voices, and providing opportunities for students to have their work recognized by industry leaders and explore careers in filmmaking.
• Films will be selected for the festival by a panel of educators and media professionals, and screened on May 15, 2024 at the Museum of the City of NY. Last year, a record 183 films were submitted for the festival, a 20% increase over last year, from NYC middle and high school students spanning 47 schools throughout the five boroughs.

‘Made in NY’ Talks Series – Spring 2024: |
• MOME, in partnership with the Center for Communications, is currently presenting the Spring 2024 installment of the ‘Made in NY’ Talks Series, which brings together industry leaders to share insights, information and news with New Yorkers looking to work in the media and entertainment industries.
• The Talks are in-person, free and open to the public, and include:
○ The Show Must Go On: Business of Live Entertainment, Tuesday, February 27, 6:30pm at BRIC, 647 Fulton Street, Brooklyn
○ Journalism: What You Need To Succeed, Wednesday, March 13, 6:30pm at SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street

Reelabilities Film Festival Presents Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie – February 20: |
• Directed by Davis Guggenheim and presented by the ReelAbilities Film Festival: New York, the new film follows the life of beloved actor and advocate Michael J. Fox, exploring his personal and professional triumphs and travails, and what happens when an incurable optimist confronts an incurable disease.
• The exclusive in-person accessible screening will be presented at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 20 at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan.

Winter Film Awards – February 21-25: |
• The 12th Annual Winter Film Awards International Film Festival includes 82 outstanding films, a diverse mixture of animated films, documentaries, comedies, romances, dramas, horror films, music videos and web series of all lengths, and features screenings and Q&A sessions at NYC's LOOK Cinemas, six education sessions/workshops, a variety of filmmaker networking events and a red-carpet gala Awards Ceremony.
• The Winter Film Awards is dedicated to showcasing the amazing diversity of voices in indie film and the 2024 lineup is 58% made by women and half by or about people of color. Filmmakers come from 23 countries and 41% of films were made in the NYC area. Thirteen films were made by students and 26 are works from first-time filmmakers.

Athena Film Festival – February 29-March 3: |
• Celebrate Women’s History Month at the Athena Film Festival, the premier film festival dedicated to celebrating and elevating women’s leadership and advancing inclusion on screen. Taking place at Barnard College at 116th and Broadway, the festival showcases narrative features, documentaries, short films, panels discussions, and events that explore original, thought-provoking, compelling, and diverse women-centered stories.
• Women’s leadership takes no singular form, and the festival is a powerful opportunity to encounter stories of women whose leadership has been questioned, dismissed or erased; women who have risen up and spoken truth to power; women who inspire, educate, and empower their communities; and much more.

TeatroFest NYC 2024 – March 1-April 30: |
• Presented by the Alliance of Teatros Latinos NY, TeatroFest NYC 2024 promises an exhilarating citywide celebration of Latino drama, dance, and music featuring 20 captivating productions and over 100 performances across nine esteemed Latino theater venues.
• The festival showcases a diverse array of live performances and conversations with Latino artists, and audiences can anticipate both world premiere productions of new works and celebrated revivals, offering a dynamic exploration of NYC's vibrant Latino community of artists and performers.

SR Socially Relevant Film Festival NY – March 13-18: |
• The 11th annual SR Socially Relevant Film Festival NY, a hybrid event that includes a selection of narrative features, documentaries, shorts, music videos, web episodes in competition, and a script-writing contest, runs March 13-18 at Cinema Village, The Maysles Documentary Center, MRHS, and the National Arts Club for the red-carpet Awards Ceremony. A preview event marking Black History Month opens on February 26 at MRHS.
• SR Socially Relevant Film Festival NY shines a spotlight on BIPOC, LGBTQI+, and women films with the 2024 lineup representing over 50% women and BIPOC filmmakers. To date, the festival has screened over 700 films from 40 countries. Many of the films were made by NYC-based filmmakers, and shot in NYC.

Harlem Gallery of Science New Video Games Exhibition: |
• MOME Commissioner Kaufman was on hand at the opening night event for the Harlem Gallery of Science new pop-up exhibition: " Video Games: The Great Connector” and presented an Official Mayoral Citation from the City of NY.
• The exhibition is open until March 30 at the Harlem School of the Arts, with the goal of inspiring Black and Latinx youth and the adults in their lives to explore the academic and career opportunities in the rapidly expanding global digital gaming industry.

• MOME Commissioner Kaufman attended the Recording Academy NY Chapter event to celebrate the 204 NYC-based 2024 GRAMMYs Nominees.
• On GRAMMYs night, winning NYC artists included Samara Joy for Best Jazz Performance, Some Like It Hot for Best Musical Theatre Album, Alicia Keys for Best Immersive Audio Album, Harlem Quartet for Best Classical Compendium, The Metropolitan Opera for Best Opera Recording and Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter who received the second annual Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. |

MOME Celebrates ‘Made in NY’ 2024 Awards-season Nominees |
• MOME Commissioner Kaufman stopped by the set of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to celebrate the DGA-nominated team at the iconic Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC. |

NY Videogame Critics Circle Awards: |
• MOME’s Alia Jones-Harvey gave opening remarks at the NY Videogame Critics Circle Awards, which recognized outstanding achievement in video games, plus promoted education within the worlds of video game writing and journalism in NYC.
• This was an opportunity for MOME to celebrate NYC’s role as a global digital games hub with initiatives such as the City College of NY’s Bachelor’s Degree program in Digital Games Design, NYU Tandon’s Gaming Incubator and the 2024 Battle of the Boroughs Minecraft Build Challenge this June.
