UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES & EVENTS |
New York Music Month – JUNE 2023: |
• MOME is proud to host the 6th annual New York Music Month (NYMM), the official celebration of New York City's vibrant and dynamic music ecosystem, to run in-person and virtually throughout the month of June.
• The NYMM free rehearsal space program, which provides NYC musicians with free studio space throughout the month of June, has expanded to studios in all five boroughs (Astoria Soundworks - Queens, Brooklyn Conservatory of Music Studios - Brooklyn, Fenix Studios - Staten Island, Greenwich House Music School - Manhattan, Lush Studios - The Bronx).
• Information on all events, including concerts, performances, industry talks and workshops, such as the Immigrant and Music Initiative 3-Part Series, Produced by Sonic Records and Make it Live!, presentations from Mehmet Dede, talent buyer at Drom on how to book, plan and market live music, can be found at NYMusicMonth.NYC. |
NYC Summer of Games – JUNE THROUGH SEPTEMBER 2023: |
• Mayor Eric Adams has announced the launch of ' NYC Summer of Games' — a citywide celebration of New York City's booming digital games community featuring marquee events, expos, tournaments, exhibits, workshops, and programs across all five boroughs from June – September 2023.
• NYC Summer of Games officially kicks off with the first-ever in-person ' Minecraft Education Battle of the Boroughs Mayor's Cup' on Saturday, June 10th at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Presented in partnership with MOME and the New York City Department of Education (DOE), this event will also include a digital games career expo and promotional items provided by the Mayor's Office of Sports, Wellness and Recreation (MOSWR). |
“A New York Evening with…” – JUNE 2023 |
• A 5-episode broadcast series, showcasing intimate conversations with artists, presented in partnership with the GRAMMY Museum. The first episode will feature 14-time GRAMMY winner Jon Batiste - Fridays in June, 8pm airing on NYC Life, the flagship channel of NYC Media. Trailer available on the NYC Media website.
• Peggy Lee, featuring an intimate conversation with Mo Rocca and Peggy Lee's granddaughter Holly Foster Wells, plus a special performance from Kristin Chenoweth - June 12 at Buttenwieser Hall at the Arnhold Center. Tickets available on the 92Y website.
• Margo Price, In conjunction with the Americana Music Foundation, the GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to present an intimate conversation and performance with Margo Price at The Greene Space at WNYC and WQXR in New York City - June 16. For more information, visit the GRAMMY Museum ticketing page here. |
6th Annual Bronx Book Festival – NOW THROUGH JUNE 11: |
Tribeca Festival – NOW THROUGH JUNE 18: |
• This year’s slate of projects at the Tribeca Festival are a joyful celebration of the big screen experience, showcasing the best emerging talent from across the globe alongside established household names.
• The festival features highly anticipated films directed by actors such as Chelsea Peretti, David Duchovny, and Steve Buscemi, over 50 documentaries (including the world premiere of Marvel's Stan Lee), in addition to live events featuring Cyndi Lauper, Carlos Santana, Gloria Gaynor, and more.
• Tribeca’s Storytellers Series will feature Chance the Rapper, Diplo, John Mellencamp with David Letterman, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Billy Porter, and Hailee Steinfeld. This year’s Directors Series, presented by City National Bank, will feature a discussion between David Fincher and Patty Jenkins.

Photoville – NOW THROUGH JUNE 18: |
• The 12th annual Photoville Festival features the return of the Photoville Village in Brooklyn Bridge Park, in addition to open-air exhibitions throughout all five boroughs of New York City.
• Collaborating with hundreds of artists and programming partners to curate and present over 80 outdoor exhibitions, Photoville addresses a wide range of issues giving visitors a unique experience of thought-provoking and exceptional photography from across the globe.

Inside Power Station @BerkleeNYC Season 2 Premiere – JUNE 9: |
• The second season of Inside Power Station @BerkleeNYC will premiere Friday June 9th at 9p on NYC Media’s flagship channel NYC Life (WNYE-TV / Channel 25).
• A partnership of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, NYC Media and Berklee College of Music in Manhattan, the 12-episode series features interviews and musical performances from the legendary Power Station recording studio in midtown with guests including longtime Late Show with David Letterman bandleader, Paul Shaffer, vocalist and social activist Nona Hendryx, Kennedy Center Honors and Bruce Springsteen music director Rob Mathes, Latin jazz vocalist Magos Herrera and World DJ and Turntablist Champion from Queens, DJ Rob Swift.

The Shattered Mind Screening – JUNE 15: |
• The NYC Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD), MOME and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) invite you to a screening of The Shattered Mind (PG-13). Like other events supported by MOPD and partners, this screening recognizes and celebrates relevant, thought-provoking programming by, for, and about the disability community.
• The screening and Q&A with the filmmaker will take place 4:30-7:00 at the Museum of the Moving Image, 36-01 35th Avenue, Astoria, NY, Redstone Theater

Festival of the Americas – JUNE 15 THROUGH JUNE 22: |
• Organized by City College - CWE, The Americas Film Festival New York presents features and short films celebrating the rich diversity of the stories, languages, and cultures of the Americas.
• The events are free and open to the public with all foreign language films presented with English subtitles.

New York Music Month Annual Conference |
• Presented by MOME and the NYU Steinhardt Music Business Program, the annual NYMM conference was an in-depth look at NYC’s Music Industry featuring speed talks, panels and fire side chats with more than 40 of New York’s music industry experts.
• The NYMM conference also included 2 panels that celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop in NYC.
• Panelists included artist Chinese Kitty; Entertainer and Co-Founder of Hip Hop Public Health, Doug E. Fresh; President of A&R, Atlantic Records Pete Ganbarg; Founder and Primary Songwriter, Living Colour, Vernon Reid; Multidisciplinary Artist Jillian Hervey; Editor-in-Chief, VIBE, Datwon Thomas; Global Editorial Head of Hip-Hop and R&B, Apple Music, Ebro Darden; Executive Producer, BET, VH1, Kim Osorio and Songwriter/Recording Artist, Internal Affairs Entertainment Torae Carr, among others.

NYC Public School Film Festival |
• In May, MOME was proud to present the 5th Annual NYC Public School Film Festival which featured 25 short films selected from 183 submissions.
• To celebrate the finalists, MOME hosted a premiere and career expo at the Museum of the City of New York. |

PEN America World Voices Festival |
• Commissioner del Castillo gave remarks at the DREAMing Out Loud: A Public Reading event, part of PEN America’s 18th Annual World Voices Festival - A Celebration of International Literature and Writers.
• During the public reading of work, hosted by award-winning Mexican novelist and DREAMING Out Loud founder Álvaro Enrigue, writers shared stories from the upcoming 4th edition of the DREAMing Out Loud Anthology. |
“Made in NY” Animation Project Showcase |
• Commissioner del Castillo was on hand to give opening remarks at the “Made in NY Animation Project (TAP) showcase, which celebrates the talent, skills and artistry of the program’s participants.
• The program is presented in partnership with the Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeON) and The Animation Project (TAP), a non-profit therapeutic workforce program that prepares New York City youth for the local animation industry through software training and personal and professional development. |
