NYC Public School Film Festival Accepting Film Submissions – DEADLINE TODAY: |
• The NYC Public School Film Festival, which honors the diversity of student voices, is presented by MOME and the NYC Department of Education (DOE), and is open to all middle and high school students.
• The 5th annual festival will take place in Spring of 2023.

NY International Children’s Film Festival – NOW THROUGH MARCH 19: |
• The 26th edition of the NYICFF will feature new films from around the world for ages 3-18 at venues throughout NYC and Sag Harbor.
• Since 1997, NYICFF has been at the forefront of a movement to redefine "film for kids," screening hundreds of short and feature films from over 30 countries annually.

‘Made in NY’ Talks Spring 2023 Series – NOW THROUGH APRIL 24: |
• Presented in partnership with the Center for Communication, the "Made in NY" Talks series brings together industry leaders to share insights, information and news with New Yorkers looking to work in the media and entertainment industries. The talks are in-person, free and open to the public.

TeatroFest NYC 2023 – NOW THROUGH APRIL 30: |
• Presented by the Alliance of Teatros Latinos NY, TeatroFest NYC 2023 is a citywide festival of live drama, dance, music and conversations with Latino artists, taking place this spring.
• The festival will feature 20 productions and 210 performances in at least 9 Latino theater venues, including world premiere productions of new works as well as revivals from individual theaters and other cultural offerings from NYC’s Latino community of artists and performers.

Game Developers Conference (GDC) – MARCH 20-24: |
• For the first time ever, MOME will join NYS Empire State Development and NYC Economic Development Corporation to represent New York State at GDC, the world’s largest professional game industry event in San Francisco.
• MOME’s First Deputy Commissioner for Creative Sector Programs Pat Kaufman and Associate Commissioner of Workforce Development and Education Alia Jones Harvey will be on hand at the NYS Pavilion where attendees can learn about all that New York has to offer and participate in various panels including “Develop Your Next Game in NYC” on Thursday, March 23, 1:00-1:20pm.

ReelAbilities Film Festival New York – APRIL 27 THROUGH MAY 3: |
• The 15th Annual ReelAbilities Film Festival returns to venues throughout New York and online this spring.
• The festival will include the annual Industry Summit in partnership with MOME. The summit will discuss accessibility and inclusion in all aspects of the film and performing arts industries, and explore beyond the basics into progressive best practices.

• Commissioner del Castillo and Deputy Commissioner for the Film Office Kwame Amoaku attended the 75th Annual Writers Guild Awards at the Edison Ballroom.
• ‘Made in NY’ winners include Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Inside Amy Schumer, Jerrod Carmichael: Rothaniel, Severance and a special presentation of the Ian McLellan Hunter Award for Career Achievement to Spike Lee. |

Wildflower Topping Out Ceremony |
• Mayor Adams, Queens BP Richards and Commissioner del Castillo were on hand at the Wildflower Studios topping out ceremony, where the ceremonial last beam was put into place.
• The studio will be home to countless future ‘Made in NY’ TV/film productions and create thousands of jobs for New Yorkers. |

Hearing on Film Industry Expansion in New York City |
• MOME Commissioner Anne del Castillo, MOME Deputy Commissioner for Film Kwame Amoaku and MOME General Counsel Lori Barrett-Peterson testified before City Council members on the status of NYC’s TV/film industry, which accounts for 185,000 total jobs and nearly $82B in economic activity representing 6.5% of the NYC economy, based on its share of City’s gross domestic product.

• MOME First Deputy Commissioner for Creative Sector Programs Pat Kaufman attended the Literary Activism Summit, presented by the Literary Action Coalition in partnership with MOME and PEN America, where writers, activists, readers, and community leaders came together to uplift and celebrate the intersection of literature and activism.
• The event at the Schomberg Center featured a keynote conversation with activist and writer Iris Morales of The Young Lords. |
