Women’s History Month Celebration on NYC Life Channel – NOW Through End of March: |
• NYC Media, the official broadcast network of the City of New York, presents a month-long celebration of Women's History, every Monday and Tuesday night in March on their flagship channel, NYC Life.
• Content includes Jane Addams: Together We Rise, a documentary that profiles the Nobel Peace Prize-winning activist; Anahita - A Mother’s Journey, the story of an Afghan refugee who evacuated Kabul in August 2021 with her five children; and Where I Became, which traces the story of 14 women who left apartheid in South Africa to attend Smith College in the U.S.

6th NYC Public School Film Festival Submission Period Open – NOW Through March 25: |
• MOME and New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) have announced that the application period is now open for the 6th Annual New York City Public School Film Festival, celebrating the talent and diversity of student voices, and providing opportunities for students to have their work recognized by industry leaders and explore careers in filmmaking.
• Films will be selected for the festival by a panel of educators and media professionals, and screened on May 15, 2024 at the Museum of the City of NY. Last year, a record 183 films were submitted for the festival, a 20% increase over last year, from NYC middle and high school students spanning 47 schools throughout the five boroughs.

‘Made in NY’ Talks Series – Spring 2024: |
• MOME, in partnership with the Center for Communications, is currently presenting the Spring 2024 installment of the ‘Made in NY’ Talks Series, which brings together industry leaders to share insights, information and news with New Yorkers looking to work in the media and entertainment industries.
• The Talks are in-person, free and open to the public at SVA Theatre (333 W. 23rd street), and include:
○ Journalism: What You Need To Succeed, Wednesday, March 13, 6:30pm at SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street
○ Center Alumni Forum: Navigating Your Early Career Years, Monday, March 18, 6:30pm

NY International Children's Film Festival – NOW Through March 17: |
• Now in its 27th year, the Oscar-qualifying NYICFF 2024 runs at venues throughout NYC with programs for ages 3 all the way to 18 (grown-ups welcome, too).
• Catch the train, grab a trolley, hop on the nearest watermelon truck, or hitch a ride on your butterfly friend—the festival will take audiences on a trip around the world (by way of the theater) to explore animation or documentary, silly stories or action-packed adventures, with something to enjoy for everyone.

TeatroFest NYC 2024 – Now Through April 30: |
• Presented by the Alliance of Teatros Latinos NY, TeatroFest NYC 2024 promises an exhilarating citywide celebration of Latino drama, dance, and music featuring 20 captivating productions and over 100 performances across nine esteemed Latino theater venues.
• The festival showcases a diverse array of live performances and conversations with Latino artists, and audiences can anticipate both world premiere productions of new works and celebrated revivals, offering a dynamic exploration of NYC's vibrant Latino community of artists and performers.

NYWIFT Muse Awards to Broadcast on NYC Media – March 16 & 18: |
• NYC Media, the official broadcast network for the City of New York, will air last year’s NYWIFT Muse Awards on the NYC Life Channel, Saturday, March 16 at 8 PM with an encore airing Monday, March 18 at 7 PM. The broadcast comes just before the live presentation of this year’s NYWIFT Muse Awards, Wednesday, March 27 in NYC.
• Both last year’s broadcast, and this year’s awards ceremony celebrate Women’s History Month by honoring women of vision and achievement in the media and entertainment industry. The Muse awards include the presentation of a “Made in NY” award by MOME, which last year was presented to 2024 Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks.

SR Socially Relevant Film Festival NY – March 13-18: |
• The 11th annual SR Socially Relevant Film Festival NY, a hybrid event that includes a selection of narrative features, documentaries, shorts, music videos, web episodes in competition, and a script-writing contest, runs March 13-18 at Cinema Village, The Maysles Documentary Center, MRHS, and the National Arts Club for the red-carpet Awards Ceremony. A preview event marking Black History Month opens on February 26 at MRHS.
• SR Socially Relevant Film Festival NY shines a spotlight on BIPOC, LGBTQI+, and women films with the 2024 lineup representing over 50% women and BIPOC filmmakers. To date, the festival has screened over 700 films from 40 countries. Many of the films were made by NYC-based filmmakers, and shot in NYC.

ReelAbilities Film Festival: New York – April 3-10: |
• The 16th edition of the NYC festival will kick off with the NYC Premiere of Tony Goldwin's star-studded EZRA, followed by a stellar lineup of premiere and award-winning films highlighting diversity and accessibility, accompanied by ground-breaking conversations and events featuring filmmakers, protagonists and guests from around the globe.
• As part of the festival, the Third Annual ReelAbilities Industry Summit: Disability, Inclusion and Equity in Film + Performing Arts, presented in partnership with MOME will take place April 8-9. Industry professionals will discuss topics of inclusion, representation and accessibility in the film industry and performing arts.

“Made in NY” PA Training Program Graduation: |
• MOME was on hand during the graduation of the 74th cohort of the “Made in NY” Production Assistant Training Program.
• Since its inception, the program has seen 1200+ New Yorkers graduate, some to go on and enter NYC’s robust film and tv production industries which together generate $82 billion in economic activity and support 185,000 jobs.

Winter Film Festival Education Panel: |
• MOME’s Deputy Director of Film Thavary Krouch joined the Empire State Development’s Film Office on an education panel during the Winter Film Awards to discuss filming resources in NYC and all the reasons why productions should film here, including our expanded state tax credit. |

Digital Games Industry Council Meeting: |
• MOME Commissioner Kaufman kicked off the third Digital Games Industry Council meeting at the Harlem School of the Arts, where council members discussed ideas to support the burgeoning digital games industry, including an educational advisory board, hosting a global esports event, and ways to attract new businesses. |
