PEN America World Voices Festival – May 10 through May 13: |
• PEN America will present the 18th annual World Voices Festival, its largest gathering to date, featuring 127 authors from 30 countries across 40 events.
• There are free events for New Yorkers of all ages and outdoor events open to the public, including the Banned Book Library and the Indie Lit Fair.

30th Anniversary of New York African Film Festival – May 10 through June 1: |
• The 30th anniversary of the New York African Film Festival (NYAFF) honors African cinema and gives a voice to the artists, activists, and filmmakers from Africa and the diaspora.
• Under the banner Freeforms, the festival presents over 50 films from more than 25 countries, and will be presented in collaboration with Film at Lincoln Center (May 10 – 16), Maysles Cinema (May 19 – 21), and BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music: May 26 – June 1).

NYC Public School Film Festival – May 13 and May 20: |
• MOME and NYC Public Schools are proud to present the 5th NYC Public School Film Festival as part of MOME’s Movies Under the Stars series in partnership with the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation:
• May 13, 8pm, Rory Staunton Field, 79th Street and 34th Avenue in Jackson Heights, Queens
• May 20, 8:15pm, Central Lawn in Sunset Park, Brooklyn

“Made in NY” Animation Project Showcase – May 31: |
• See workforce development and storytelling in action at the free “Made in NY” Animation Project Showcase, featuring keynote speaker Matt Mun.
• The “Made in NY" Animation Project offers NYC youth the opportunity to engage in storytelling, gain technical skills in 3D computer animation, and qualify for paid internships in the field.

A New York Evening with… Bettye LaVette & Steve Jordan – May 31 |
• In partnership with MOME, and in conjunction with the Americana Music Foundation, the GRAMMY Museum will present an intimate conversation with Bettye LaVette & Steve Jordan followed by a performance at The Greene Space at WNYC and WQXR in NYC.

The People's Film Festival – June 1 through June 4: |
• AND YOU DON’T STOP! is the theme for the 12th Annual People’s Film Festival (TPFF) in celebration of the 50th Year of Hip Hop.
• The festival kicks off at the AMC Magic Johnson Theater, Maysles Cinema in Harlem, New York and will feature a series of events including The TECH PEOPLE EXPO (TPXPO), the Public Media Awards of Excellence and ARTPEOPLE, which highlights the work of artists who utilize all forms of media to create truly innovative works of art.

NewFest Pride – June 1 through June 5: |
• Kick off Pride Month with NewFest Pride at SVA Theatre!
• The 5-day festival features premiere screenings, conversations, and other events that offer opportunities to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community’s legacy and exciting contemporary stories.

Photoville – June 3 through June 18: |
• The 12th annual Photoville Festival will feature the return of the Photoville Village in Brooklyn Bridge Park, in addition to open-air exhibitions throughout all five boroughs of New York City.
• Collaborating with hundreds of artists and programming partners to curate and present over 80 outdoor exhibitions, Photoville addresses a wide range of issues giving visitors a unique experience of thought-provoking and exceptional photography from across the globe.

Tribeca Festival – June 7 through June 18: |
• This year’s slate of projects at the Tribeca Festival is a joyful celebration of the big screen experience, showcasing the best emerging talent from across the globe alongside established household names.
• The festival will feature highly anticipated films directed by actors such as Chelsea Peretti, David Duchovny, and Steve Buscemi, over 50 documentaries (including the world premiere of Marvel's Stan Lee), in addition to live events featuring Cyndi Lauper, Carlos Santana, Gloria Gaynor, and more.
• Tribeca’s Storytellers Series will feature Chance the Rapper, Diplo, John Mellencamp with David Letterman, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Billy Porter, and Hailee Steinfeld. This year’s Directors Series, presented by City National Bank, will feature a discussion between David Fincher and Patty Jenkins.

6th Annual Bronx Book Festival – June 8 through June 11: |
Inside Power Station @BerkleeNYC Season 2 Premiere – June 9: |
• The second season of Inside Power Station @BerkleeNYC will premiere Friday June 9th at 9pm on NYC Media’s flagship channel NYC Life (WNYE-TV / Channel 25).
• A partnership of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, NYC Media and Berklee College of Music in Manhattan, the 12-episode series features interviews and musical performances from the legendary Power Station recording studio in midtown with guests including longtime Late Show with David Letterman bandleader, Paul Shaffer; vocalist and social activist Nona Hendryx; Kennedy Center Honors and Bruce Springsteen music director Rob Mathes; Latin jazz vocalist Magos Herrera; and World DJ and Turntablist Champion from Queens, DJ Rob Swift.

NYC Women’s Fund for Media, Music and Theatre 4th Round Recipient Announcement: |
• MOME, in partnership with New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), awarded $2 million to 96 projects through the NYC Women's Fund for Media, Music and Theatre.
• This groundbreaking initiative, which aims to address the underrepresentation of women in film and digital media, music, and theatre, has provided a total of $7.5 million to 342 projects.

Reelabilities Film Festival & Industry Summit: |
• MOME Commissioner Anne del Castillo and Commissioner Christina Curry of the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) kicked off the 15th ReelAbilities Film Festival, which opened with a screening of Unidentified Objects by Juan Felipe Zuleta.
• The festival also featured the second annual Industry Summit, which, for the first time, incorporated representatives from the performing arts as well as film communities, and provided a platform for conversation around accessibility for all NYers in the entertainment sectors. |

5th Anniversary of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: |
• In honor of the 5th Anniversary of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway, MOME Commissioner Anne del Castillo presented the show with a proclamation on behalf of Mayor Adams declaring April 22 “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Day” and a street sign naming 43rd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues “Cursed Child Way” just for the occasion. |

2023 Sociable City Summit |
• The 2023 Sociable City Summit convened in New York City for the first time to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Responsible Hospitality Institute (RHI) and bring together 248 representatives from 67 cities, 33 states/provinces and five countries to exchange strategies to create a safer and more vibrant nighttime social economy.
• MOME Commissioner Anne del Castillo kicked off the event with a proclamation from Mayor Adams declaring April 21, 2023 “Ariel Palitz Day” in honor of the Office of Nightlife’s Founding Director on her last day in public service. |

New York Foundation for the Arts Hall of Fame: |
• MOME Commissioner Anne del Castillo was inducted into NYFA’s Hall of Fame for her role in advancing NYC arts and entertainment and connecting artists to opportunities.
• The event recognizes visual, literary and performing artists who have had a profound impact on the arts through their creative work, and individuals and organizations who have championed the value of the arts in the world.
• The evening also honored visual artist Marylyn Dintenfass, writer and performance artist Carmelita Tropicana and patron of the arts Brookfield Properties. |

• MOME Commissioner Anne del Castillo was honored at the 21st Fusion Film Festival with the inaugural Industry Visionary Award by the student organizers of the festival in appreciation for her role in leading the recovery of NYC’s creative economy.
• The festival is NYU Tisch School of the Arts’ premier festival celebrating women and underrepresented voices in film, TV, and new media. More information about the festival can be found on their website here. |

The Marvelous Ms. Maisel 5th Season Premiere: |
• MOME Deputy Film Commissioner Kwame Amoaku presented a proclamation to the cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to celebrate the fifth and final season of the "Made in NY" show.
• Also on hand were producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino, and Head of Prime Video Jen Salke. The moment was an opportunity to showcase NYC’s film and TV industry, which generates $82 billion in economic output and supports 185K jobs. |
