NYC Women’s Fund – Application Period Open Now Through November 1:
•   MOME and the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) are accepting applications for the fifth round of grants for the NYC Women's Fund for Media, Music and Theatre.
•   Qualified applicants can apply for finishing grants through November 1, 2023 at NYFA’s website here
“A New York Evening with…” Series – October 2023
•   In partnership with MOME, the GRAMMY Museum presents two more intimate performances and conversations this October:
   ○   Bailey Zimmerman, moderated by David Foster - Thursday, October 12 at The Greene Space at WNYC and WQXR
   ○    Jon Batiste - Tuesday, October 17 at National Sawdust
   ○    William Prince - Monday, October 23 at The Greene Space at WNYC and WQXR
‘Made in NY’ Talks Series – Fall 2023:
•    MOME, in partnership with the Center for Communication, is currently presenting the Fall 2023 installment of the ‘Made in NY’ Talks Series, which brings together industry leaders to share insights, information and news with New Yorkers looking to work in the media and entertainment industries.
•    The talks are in-person, free and open to the public, and include:
   ○   Media Literacy, AI & Journalism: The Challenges & Opportunities - Monday, October 23, 6:00 at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library
   ○   Set Life: Designing the Scene - Wednesday, November 1, 6:30 at the NYU Production Lab
   ○   Get in the Game: Opportunities in Sports Media - Monday, November 6, 6:30 at the SVA Theatre

Newfest – October 12 through October 24:
•    NewFest is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its annual New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival, with in-person screenings throughout NYC and films streaming across the US.
•    NewFest will be returning once again to in-person screenings and Q&As at SVA Theatre and The LGBT Community Center in Manhattan, as well as two locations in Brooklyn - Nitehawk Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in Brooklyn.

Chelsea Film Festival – October 12 through October 31:
•    Chelsea Film Festival returns for its 11th Edition this fall, October 12-15 at Regal Theatres and October 12-31 online.
•    CFF offers the best local independent and international Shorts, Features, Docs, and TV Series/Pilots focusing on global issues. Two new programs are featured this year: the Screenwriting Incubator in partnership with TD, and a broadcast opportunity on CUNY TV.

Mott Haven Film Festival – October 19 through October 22: 
•   The Mott Haven Film Festival is back with an eclectic selection of 25 films that showcase diverse voices and perspectives through thought-provoking documentaries, gripping narratives and experimental shorts.
•   The festival will include engaging discussions with filmmakers, networking opportunities, and a chance to explore the rich cultural tapestry of independent cinema at both locations; the Bronx Brewery and the Lincoln Hospital Auditorium.

Urbanworld Film Festival – November 1 through November 5: 
•    Urbanworld Film Festival and Innovation + Web3 Conference is back, live and in-person this fall for their 27th year, as they continue to shine the light on excellence in storytelling, innovation and community, bringing together artists, partners and audiences from around the world!

Dominican Film Festival – November 2 through November 9: 
•    The 12th Dominican Film Festival in New York City (DFFNYC) will feature more than 90 films in a celebration of Dominican filmmaking outside of the Dominican Republic.  
•    DFFNYC will screen in five venues across Manhattan with the E-Walk Regal Cinemas as its main venue, and will host more than 60 actors and filmmakers to participate in Q&A and panel discussions.

New York Comedy Festival – November 3 through November 12: 
•    The New York Comedy Festival is back and bigger than ever to bring 10 days of laughter to The Big Apple with 200+ comedians performing in 100+ shows across all five boroughs.
•    Don't miss your chance to see Dave Attell, Bill Burr, Nicole Byer, Jimmy Carr, Margaret Cho, Tim Dillon, Giggly Squad, Ilana Glazer, Brett Goldstein, Anthony Jeselnik, Matteo Lane, Sam Morril, Nick Mullen and Adam Friedland, Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, Atsuko Okatsuka, Pod Meets World, Donnell Rawlings, Jeff Ross, Robyn Schall, Daniel Sloss, Stand Up for Heroes, Michelle Wolf and many more perform at NYC's most prestigious venues, including The Apollo, BAM, the Beacon Theatre, Madison Square Garden, The Theater at Madison Square Garden, Town Hall and The Venue at Hard Rock Hotel New York.

DOC NYC – November 8 through November 26:
•    DOC NYC, America’s largest documentary festival, returns for its 14th edition, with more than 200 films and events in person in New York, and hundreds of films available online across the country. Discover emerging filmmakers and catch new work from documentary greats like Wim Wenders.
•    The DOC NYC All Film Pass gets you access to every film screening during the live, in-person festival PLUS films on the festival's virtual screening platform from November 8-26 - with a special early bird discount available through October 18 only. The full festival lineup will be announced on October 12.

Mayor Adams Convenes First-Ever Theatre and Live Performance Industry Council:
•   The inaugural meeting, hosted at Gracie Mansion, brought together representatives from NYC arenas, cultural institutions, unions, and the nonprofit sector with City Government to address challenges and develop solutions for the live performance industry.
•    Joining Mayor Eric Adams at the meeting was Deputy Mayor for Housing, Economic Development, and Workforce Maria Torres-Springer; MOME Commissioner Pat Swinney Kaufman; New York City Department of Cultural Affairs Commissioner Laurie Cumbo; and NYC Tourism + Conventions President and CEO Fred Dixon, alongside council co-chairs Coco Killingsworth, vice president of social impact at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), and Ken Sunshine, founder of Sunshine Sachs.

Film and TV Industry Small Business Listening Session: 
•   MOME, in partnership with Small Business Services (SBS), hosted a Film and TV Industry Small Business Listening Session, which brought together representatives from across government to understand the needs and experiences of small businesses affected by the recent WGA and SAG/AFTRA strikes, and to highlight the vast and unique ecosystem that services the NYC Film and Television industry – from lumber yards to prop houses to costume shops and more.
•   Joining MOME Commissioner Pat Swinney Kaufman and SBS Commissioner Kevin Kim at the meeting was Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) Commissioner Vilda Vera Mayuga, along with representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration, NYC Economic Development Corporation, and Congressman Jerry Nadler’s office.

Curtain Up! Broadway Festival:
•   MOME Commissioner Pat Swinney Kaufman was on hand to kick-off the third annual Curtain Up! Broadway Festival, a three-day event organized by Playbill, The Broadway League, The Times Square Alliance, which included performances from Broadway stars, singalongs, panels, installations and more.
•   The event highlighted NYC as a global creative capital and its ability to attract audiences and fans from around the world to enjoy, watch, eat, sleep and do everything this great city has to offer.
