“Made in NY” Talks Series – October Programming:
•    Presented in partnership with the Center for Communication, MOME is proud to present the “Made in NY” Talks series, which brings together industry leaders to share insights, information and news with New Yorkers looking to work in the media and entertainment industries. The talks are in-person, free and open to the public. October events include:
      ○   Make Documentaries That MatterWednesday, October 9, 6:30 to 8:00 PM @ SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street
      ○   Be An Informed Citizen: Media Literacy & the 2024 White House RaceMonday, October 21, 6:00 to 7:30 PM @ Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library, 455 Fifth Avenue
      ○   Made in NYC: Creators ConversationMonday, October 28, 6:30 to 8:00 PM @ NYU Production Lab, 16 Washington Place

NewFest - October 10-22:
•    Queer films are coming to the 36th Annual New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival at venues across Manhattan and Brooklyn (plus streaming virtually across the U.S.) with 140+ LGBTQ+ films, TV series, panel conversations, parties, and more.
•    The #NewFest36 program features romantic comedies and moving dramas, documentaries and experimental films, familiar faces and rising talent, New York premieres, and cult classics.

New York Film Festival – Now through October 14:
•    The New York Film Festival returns for its 62nd edition, and will offer festival screenings in four partner venues across the city in addition to the venues at Lincoln Center: Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (Staten Island), BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) (Brooklyn), The Bronx Museum (Bronx), and the Museum of the Moving Image (Queens).
•    Since 1963, NYFF has shaped film culture and continues an enduring tradition of introducing audiences to the best in world cinema returns with bold and remarkable works from celebrated filmmakers and fresh new talent.

NYC Media to Present NYC Public Schools Documentary, Game Changers – October 20: 
•    NYC Gov, the government channel of the City’s official broadcast network, NYC Media, will present the NYC Public Schools documentary Game Changers on Sunday, October 20th at 1:00PM.
•    Game Changers follows the journeys of three high school sports teams (John F. Kennedy Campus Girls’ Flag Football team, James Madison High School Girl's Stunt team, and the East West School of International Studies Boys' Volleyball Team) across New York City as they discover how sports foster discipline, academic excellence, and future career readiness as young athletes. These teams embody the spirit of the Public Schools Athletic League, which provides opportunities for educating students in physical fitness, character development, and socialization skills through athletic programming.

Chelsea Film Festival – October 16-20:
•    The Chelsea Film Festival, now in its 12th edition, returns to highlight the best of local and world Cinema during 5 days of special events.
•    MOME Deputy Commissioner Kwame Amoaku will moderate a panel – How to Run Your Business – as part of the Chelsea Film Festival Reel Magic Hour annual program, Friday, October 18th.

NY Emmy Awards – October 26:
•    NYC Life, the flagship television channel of the City of New York’s broadcast network and production group, NYC Media, was nominated for 15 New York Emmy Awards, up from seven in 2023. To see the list of NYC Life nominated shows, please visit the MOME press release website here.

The New York Comedy Festival – November 8-17: 
•    The New York Comedy Festival is back for its 20th year to bring 10 days of laughter to The Big Apple with 200+ comedians performing in 100+ shows across all five boroughs.   
•    Performers include Judd Apatow, Jeff Arcuri, Dave Attell, Zarna Garg, How Did This Get Made?, Gabriel Iglesias, I’ve Had It, Joe List, Bill Maher, Matt McCusker, Tracy Morgan, Nurse John, Ms. Pat, Adam Ray is Dr. Phil, The Rest Is History, Justin Silva, JB Smoove, Dan Soder, Sommore, Stand Up for Heroes, Jimmy O. Yang, Jaboukie Young-White and many more at NYC's most prestigious venues, including the Beacon Theatre, Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, Kings Theatre, Town Hall, and The Venue at Hard Rock Hotel New York.

A LOOK BACK
•    MOME once again supported the 9th Annual Game Devs of Color Expo, held virtually September 18-21, and presented the second-ever "Made in NY" Grant to Game Developer Daniel Lowe, who was awarded $15,000 in finishing funds for his game, Parkour Legends. This developer grant is part of the City’s commitment to supporting the Digital Games industry, and making it accessible to all New Yorkers.  
•     MOME was on hand at the world premiere of the new “Made in NY” production, The Penguin, on September 17:
