NYC Media Premieres New TV Series: |
• NYC Media, the official broadcast network for the City of NY is currently running a brand-new 13-episode series – The NYC Field Guide – offering unique tips, hacks and expert information from celebrities, New Yorkers and NYC officials for how to live, work and play in the five boroughs of New York City.
• September episodes include:
○ September 11 "Starting a Business" - Department of Small Business Services Director of NYC BEST Berthe Ambroise
○ September 18 "Final Episode" - Office of the Mayor Director of Rodent Mitigation Kathleen Corradi and Department of Health & Mental Hygiene Director of Neighborhood Interventions Caroline Bragdon
• All episodes air Wednesdays at 8pm with encore presentations Mondays at 10:30pm on the NYC Life Channel 25.

NYC Media Premieres New Season of “92NY on NYC Life” – September 14th: |
• NYC Media, the broadcast network for the City of NY, will premiere Season 15 of “92NY on NYC Life” beginning Saturday, September 14th at 8pm, on NYC Life Channel 25. The season includes 10 episodes of the world-renowned 92NY talk series.
• The premiere episode of “92NY on NYC Life” will feature Oscar-winning actress, Viola Davis, with additional episodes to feature actors Colman Domingo, Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore, Emily Blunt, best-selling author, Isabel Allende, Anderson Cooper, Steven Van Sandt, Ruben Blades, former SNL cast member, Melissa Villasenor, and Today Show co-anchors Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie.
• First established in the 1870s as the Young Men’s Hebrew Association, the 92nd Street Y celebrated its 150th year in 2023 by rebranding as 92NY, and continues to offer New Yorkers diverse culture, arts, and entertainment programming year-round. The 92NY talk series has been airing on NYC Media for more than a decade.

New York On Location – September 15: |
• The Museum of the Moving Image, Theatrical Teamsters Local 817, I.A.T.S.E. Local 52, and Kaufman Astoria Studios will present New York on Location, a FREE family-friendly outdoor event that offers a behind-the-scenes look at film and TV production in New York.
• New York on Location invites the public to go inside eighteen working movie trailers and trucks—straight from productions shooting in New York—and speak directly with movie professionals about what they do on set. Trucks will include star dressing rooms, electrical, grip, prop, camera, hair and makeup, wardrobe, special effects, and more. Key film craftspeople will demonstrate and explain firsthand their roles in the moviemaking process.
• This unique street fair and celebration will take place on Sunday, September 15, 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., in Astoria, Queens.

New York Latino Film Festival – September 15-22: |
• The New York Latino Film Festival (NYLFF), kicks off Latino Heritage Month from September 15 to 22, 2024, with an impressive roster of 116 films from nearly 20 countries, to be held, once again, at Regal Union Square (850 Broadway, NYC).
• Opening Night will be held for the first time at the Audible Minetta Lane Theater (18 Minetta Lane, NYC) with the World Premiere of Clemente directed by David Altrogge and executive-produced by LeBron James and Oscar-nominee Richard Linklater. The feature-length documentary explores the life, career, and legacy of baseball great Roberto Clemente, who opened the door for future generations of Latino baseball players.
• The Festival closes with a free block party in Washington Heights featuring live music, food, and games and more.

Game Devs of Color Expo – September 18-21: |
• As part of MOME’s NYC Summer of Games initiative – a celebration of the digital gaming community and activity in New York City – the Game Devs of Color Expo returns.
• The Game Devs of Color Expo is dedicated to amplifying the creative power held by people of color in games while creating a games industry that is intersectional and equitable. This event is an online conference with live chats, digital booths, grant award ceremonies, networking opportunities, panel discussions, interviews, and a Steam sale.

Climate Film Festival – September 20-22: |
• The inaugural Climate Film Festival, in partnership with the Guardian US, will take place Friday, September 20 - Sunday, September 22 with an opening night premiere held at The Explorers Club, followed by a weekend of 59 film finalist screenings and panel discussions at Firehouse: DCTV's Cinema for Documentary Film.
• The festival coincides with the opening weekend of Climate Week NYC, and will feature MOME’s Commissioner Pat Swinney Kayfman on opening night.

Silent Stand-Up Comedy Festival – September 22: |
• NYLaughs is presenting a silent comedy experience at Pier 57 on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 11:30 am to 9 pm, with a day of laughter at five shows, including a family-friendly set, a musical improv hour, and headlining performances from Dulcé Sloan and Devon Walker!
• Due to NYC’s rooftop sound restrictions, organizers will hand out headphones for audiences to enjoy the comedy in silence. A government ID or credit card is required.

Brooklyn Book Festival – September 22-30: |
• The Brooklyn Book Festival is NYC’s free literary festival, with nine days of award-winning and up-and-coming authors.
• Festival Day and Literary Marketplace on Sept. 29 around Brooklyn Borough Hall includes 8 stages of author readings and discussions including fiction, non-fiction, comics, poetry, and young adult.
• At Children’s Day on Sept. 28 in Brooklyn Commons, families enjoy a day of storytime, workshops, performances, and art projects with favorite authors and illustrators including R.L. Stine, Lian Cho, Mike Lowery and meet a favorite costumed character, Dog Man.

NYWIFT FinanceHER Conference – September 25: |
• New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) presents Part 2 of the FinanceHER Institute in partnership with The New School. This one-day conference to refine your business strategies will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 12-6pm ET at The New School Auditorium, Alvin Johnson/J.M. Kaplan Hall.
• NYWIFT's FinanceHER Part 2 is a collaboration with The New School's Media Management Graduate Program/School of Media Students and the university-wide Impact Entrepreneurship Initiative and Fellowship serving graduate students from both The New School and Parsons. Event topics will include Branded Content, Meet the Showrunners, and Philanthropic Leaders in the Arts.

New York Film Festival – September 27 - October 14: |
• The New York Film Festival returns for its 62nd edition, and will offer festival screenings in four partner venues across the city in addition to the venues at Lincoln Center: Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (Staten Island), BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) (Brooklyn), The Bronx Museum (Bronx), and the Museum of the Moving Image (Queens).
• Since 1963, NYFF has shaped film culture and continues an enduring tradition of introducing audiences to the best in world cinema returns with bold and remarkable works from celebrated filmmakers and fresh new talent.

The New York Comedy Festival – November 8-17: |
• The New York Comedy Festival is back for its 20th year to bring 10 days of laughter to The Big Apple with 200+ comedians performing in 100+ shows across all five boroughs.
• Performers include Judd Apatow, Jeff Arcuri, Dave Attell, Zarna Garg, How Did This Get Made?, Gabriel Iglesias, I’ve Had It, Joe List, Bill Maher, Matt McCusker, Tracy Morgan, Nurse John, Ms. Pat, Adam Ray is Dr. Phil, The Rest Is History, Justin Silva, JB Smoove, Dan Soder, Sommore, Stand Up for Heroes, Jimmy O. Yang, Jaboukie Young-White and many more at NYC's most prestigious venues, including the Beacon Theatre, Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, Kings Theatre, Town Hall, and The Venue at Hard Rock Hotel New York.

MOME Announced Return of “Made in NY” Awards Ceremony: |
• MOME is bringing back the “Made in NY” Awards ceremony, after a 10-year hiatus.
• The exclusive industry gathering, to be held October 28 at Gracie Mansion, is being reinstated now to both celebrate and acknowledge a community of creatives who have been affected by the pandemic and recent labor strikes.
• The event, which will honor four individuals and/or groups with a focus on those in NYC's film/TV industry, will bring the grand total of "Made in NY" Awards presented to 78. Honorees will be announced closer to the show date. |
