About BXCB10

Bronx Community Board #10 is a small agency of the City of New York tasked with issuing advisory opinions on matters such as traffic, land use, street permits, liquor licenses and sidewalk cafes. The Board consists of up to 50 volunteers that are appointed by the Bronx Borough President. At least one-half of the Board's Members are recommended from the districts of the respective New York City Council Members. Board #10 consists of communities such as City Island, Co-op City, Country Club, Edgewater Park, Locust Point, Pelham Bay, Silver Beach, Spencer Estates, Throggs Neck, Westchester Square and Zerega. As an example of community government, CB #10 liaises with city and state elected officials, city and state agencies, local non-profits and businesses. Board #10, led by the District Manager, field and resolve municipal complaints and/or concerns from members of the public and administer CB #10 policy. Board Members

All members of Bronx Community Board 10 are volunteers appointed by the Borough President and are selected from among active, involved people of each community, with an effort made to assure that every neighborhood is represented. Committee Members

Board committees do most of the planning and work on issues that are acted upon at Board meetings. The Committees of Community Board #10 are Economic Development, Health and Human Services, Housing and Zoning, Municipal Services, Parks and Recreation, Planning and Budget, Youth Services and Education and Veterans Services. Non-board members may apply to join or work on Board committees.

The Economic Development Committee is always the First Tuesday. The Health and Human Services is always the First Wednesday. The Housing and Zoning Committee is always the Second Tuesday. The Municipal Services Committee is always the Second Wednesday. The Parks and Recreation Committee is always the Second Thursday. The Youth and Education Committee is always the Fourth Monday.

District Needs Statement

The District Needs Statement provides an overview of Community Board 10. It contains a brief history, geographical boundaries, and explains present and future needs on transportation, public safety, health and human services, education, housing and zoning, parks and recreation, emergency management, and economic development.
