Thekra has been a dedicated educator since 2000 and activist. She currently serves as the Director of Family and Youth at the Yemeni American Merchant Association (YAMA) in New York City. Her diverse expertise has allowed her to lead various impactful initiatives and foster community growth. In addition to her professional roles, Thekra is a respected community leader, activist, and public speaker. She serves on the advisory board of the Bay Ridge Center and has worked closely with mosques and Islamic centers across New York City to raise awareness about key topics such as mental health, education, women’s and youth leadership, human development, and voter rights. Thekra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Literature and Sociology, along with certifications as a medical assistant and an international trainer in Human Development.
