To identify opportunities for the City to save energy, DCAS conducts regular energy audits and retro-commissioning studies for City buildings over 50,000 gross square feet. DCAS partners with City agencies to implement retro-commissioning projects identified by these studies. Retro-commissioning projects are repair projects that ensure that buildings' energy systems and equipment were installed as intended by their design, and are being properly operated and maintained.
By the end of FY19, DEM has completed 490 retro-commissioning projects, representing a total investment of $37.7 million.
DCAS works with partner agency staff to conduct regular energy audits and retro-commissioning studies. Municipal building managers can request an Energy Audit and Retro-Commissioning Study for their facility.
