What We Do

The NYC Department of Correction promotes safety, security as well as supportive services for those in DOC’s care. Departmental operations include transportation, fire safety, investigations, communications, print shop, laundry, a power plant, food service, and so much more. In addition to promoting a safe environment for people in New York City custody, DOC staff facilitate programming, support court operations, investigate crimes and work with community-based organizations on a range of prevention strategies.
